Matthew McConaughey has broken his silence after being confirmed as the star in a new “Yellowstone” spinoff series.
The Texas native broke his silence on the role after Paramount Network head Chris McCarthy confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that McConaughey will star in the hit show.
McConaughey has been rumored as a replacement for the main show’s current lead played by Kevin Costner.
However, it now appears that McConaughey will star in a new show that may include some of the characters from “Yellowstone.”
McConaughey said on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast: “I am now becoming more interested in actually going to play another character in a TV show because the last four years of culminating and writing and getting these things together and getting more into public service.
“The idea of going to act in the right kind of role, in the right kind of movie, film, or series right now sounds like an awesome vacation,” he said.
He said his decision to take a break from acting to focus on other projects has not “been in vain.
“I’ll be a different or improved actor in my own right after this last three years.
“What I have is so much respect for the vocation of acting.
“I think I have a healthier relationship.
“I’m not looking at it for my survival and my thrive-all.
“I think good acting emulates life.
“Real life is where this stuff comes from.”

He also said on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast about a scary experience flying where his plane dropped 4,000 feet:
“My tray table is what held me down.
“I did not have my seatbelt on, and there was not a seatbelt warning right before it happened.
“Some people were ghost silent.
“Some people had big bursts of laughter.
“And it was not like, ‘Oh, this is fun.’
“It was like, ‘I’m in shock.’
“Your red wine and the glass and the plates that your food was on are all suspended, floating, still just in the air, and then everything just comes crashing down,” he said.
