Actor George Takei Accuses Trump of Using ‘Nazi Playbook’ to Exploit Charlie Kirk’s Murder

Actor George Takei has accused President Donald Trump and his allies of exploiting the political assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Doubling down on the Left’s divisive rhetoric, Takei is comparing their response to Nazi Germany’s tactics in the 1930s.

Takei, best known for his role in “Star Trek,” made the claim on BlueSky while sharing a Substack article titled, “Is Charlie Kirk Their Reichstag Moment?”

“After Charlie Kirk’s murder, Trump and his allies wasted no time crafting an insidious and baseless narrative: that the Left is violent, the right is under siege, and only they can restore order,” Takei wrote.

“Sound familiar? The Nazis tried the same playbook.”

The Substack article argued that Trump was using Kirk’s killing as a “Reichstag moment.”

The comment is a reference to the 1933 burning of Germany’s parliament building.

The Nazis used the fire to justify suspending civil liberties and consolidating power.

The Facts Of The Case

Despite attempts to downplay the shooter’s motives, prosecutors revealed evidence this week that strongly suggests politics was the driving factor in the assassination.

Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray publicly read a message left by accused gunman Tyler Robinson.

In text messages to his transgender boyfriend, Robinson admitted to targeting Kirk because of his views.

“Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, left behind a message for his transgender roommate/partner in which he admitted shooting Kirk and said, ‘I had enough of his hatred,’” Gray said.

The note reportedly detailed Robinson’s intent:

“Some hate can’t be negotiated out.

“If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence.

“Going to attempt to retrieve it again.

“Hopefully, they have moved on.

“I haven’t seen anything about them finding it.”

Robinson also referenced his father’s support for Trump before declaring he planned to turn himself in:

“Since Trump got into office, my dad has been pretty diehard MAGA.

“I’m gonna turn myself in willingly.

“One of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.

“Again, you are all I worry about love.

“Don’t take any interviews or make any comments.

“If any police ask you questions, ask for a lawyer and stay silent.”

The Bigger Picture

While Democrats and left-wing commentators continue to frame the killing as apolitical, evidence presented by prosecutors indicates otherwise: Kirk was assassinated because of his conservative views.

Republicans have called out attempts to minimize the political nature of the murder, arguing that rhetoric from the left has fueled a toxic environment where violence against conservatives is not only tolerated but sometimes celebrated.

Takei’s comments, likening Trump to Nazis, reflect a broader pattern on the left of dismissing Republican concerns about political violence while pushing the narrative that Trump himself is the true authoritarian threat.
