Bill O’Reilly has announced that he is temporarily stepping back from his media work due to an undisclosed illness.
In an announcement, he told supporters that he expects to return soon and will provide updates as his condition improves.
In a message posted to his website, O’Reilly addressed his audience directly.
“Hey No Spin Nation,” he wrote.
“Sorry I am dealing with a malady.
“We have great doctors so we’ll fight the good fight.
“Doesn’t affect my fingers so will update you on me, news cycle and anything major.
“Hopefully, back in the saddle shortly.”
O’Reilly, 76, has hosted and produced “No Spin News” since his 2017 departure from Fox News.
Before that, he anchored “The O’Reilly Factor” from 1996 to 2017.
He became one of the most influential and highest-rated figures in cable news for more than two decades.
Since leaving Fox, O’Reilly has remained active in media, appearing regularly on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation program.
He has also been working as an executive producer on several National Geographic television projects based on his best-selling nonfiction books, including “Killing Lincoln,” “Killing Kennedy,” “Killing Jesus,” and “Killing Reagan.”
Following his announcement, supporters quickly flooded social media with messages wishing him a speedy recovery.
“Hope you recover quickly, take care,” one user wrote.
“Get well soon, you’ve been missed,” another added.
“No one put sanity into Cuomo show like you do!”
“All the best Bill, you will be missed,” one supporter commented, while another said:
“Will pray for your quick recovery Bill.”
O’Reilly said he plans to keep his audience informed and expressed optimism about returning to his regular work in the near future.
