Officials have confirmed that the shock sudden death of Hollywood star Michael Madsen was caused by cardiac arrest.
The rugged, iconic actor was known for his unforgettable roles in “Reservoir Dogs” and “Kill Bill.”
Madsen’s cause of death was confirmed by his cardiologist.
The 66-year-old Hollywood actor was found unresponsive at his home in Malibu earlier this week.
His cardiologist confirmed that the actor’s death was the result of cardiac arrest.
The doctor suggested that heart disease and a history of alcoholism may have been contributing factors.
However, an autopsy will not be performed to confirm Madsen
According to PEOPLE, an autopsy will not be performed because Madsen’s cardiologist signed the death certificate.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has reportedly closed its investigation.
Madsen’s death has now officially been classified as natural causes.
Spokespersons for the Los Angeles Medical Examiner and the Sheriff’s Department have not issued a public statement.
Following the actor’s death, Madsen’s manager, Ron Smith, said:
“What we understand is Michael had a cardiac arrest and was found unresponsive in his Malibu home earlier this morning.”
Madsen was widely regarded for his gritty, commanding on-screen presence.
He had a film career spanning decades.
Madsen’s legacy is built on memorable characters in Quentin Tarantino’s films and beyond.
His sister, actress Virginia Madsen, offered a deeply personal tribute.
She remembered her brother not just as a film icon, but as family.
“My brother Michael has left the stage,” she said in a statement to Variety.
“He was thunder and velvet.
“Mischief wrapped in tenderness.
“A poet disguised as an outlaw.
“A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.”
“We’re not mourning a public figure,” she added.
“We’re not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart.
“Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire.
“Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby,” she continued.
“I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him.
“I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother.
“Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory.
“In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life — but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t.”
Madsen’s film career included over 150 credits.
He was known for his frequent collaborations with Tarantino, including his role as Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs, which remains one of the most iconic and unsettling performances in modern cinema.
Madsen is survived by his wife and children.
Plans for a public memorial or funeral service have not yet been announced.
