Cincinnati City Councilwoman Victoria Parks is facing intense backlash after her shocking comments on social media regarding a brutal assault that took place in the city’s downtown area.
The comments, which appeared under a Facebook post showing video footage of the vicious attack, have prompted calls for her resignation and sparked outrage across the political spectrum.
The post in question, which was shared by a Facebook user named Leohna Alia La JCannon, shows a group of individuals violently assaulting two people in the early hours of a Saturday morning on the corner of Fourth and Elm Street in downtown Cincinnati.
The graphic footage shows a woman being knocked unconscious and left lying on the street.
The attack happened without any apparent provocation.
Beneath the post, Councilwoman Parks, a Democrat, commented, “They begged for that beat down!” followed by, “I am grateful for the whole story.”

This comment has been widely condemned as heartless and inflammatory, especially coming from an elected official.
Many have expressed their disgust at Parks’ apparent defense of violent criminals, with some questioning her judgment and fitness to serve as a public leader.
Ohio’s 39th District State Rep. Phil Plummer, a vocal critic of Parks’ comment, took to social media to demand her immediate resignation.
“Cincinnati Councilwoman Victoria Parks must resign immediately!” he wrote.
“Defending violent criminals who viciously beat innocent people is disgusting.
“Her words ‘They begged for that beat down!’ are outrageous.
“Prosecutors must charge the attackers with a hate crime.
“We must protect our streets!”

Parks’ comments have drawn sharp rebuke from many corners of the political spectrum, including from local police.
Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober called Parks’ celebration of violence “unconscionable,” adding:
“This highlights the poor political environment that police officers, residents, and visitors are currently enduring.
“Thankfully, there’s an election in November.
“I urge voters to vote for change!”
Parks, who was elected to the city council on a Democratic Party ticket in 2022, has a history of advocating for social justice causes.
According to her city biography, she played a leading role in passing a resolution declaring “Racism as a Public Health Crisis.”
She also successfully campaigned to make Juneteenth a paid holiday for Hamilton County employees.
However, despite her history of promoting progressive causes, her recent comments have raised serious concerns from all sides.
Many are questioning her ability to serve effectively as an elected official, especially given her apparent indifference to the suffering of the victims in this case.
While Parks announced earlier this year that she would not seek reelection and would retire after her current term ends, the controversy surrounding her latest comments has further damaged her credibility.
The city councilwoman has not commented publicly to address the issue.
The call for her resignation is growing louder, with many Cincinnati residents and law enforcement officials calling for leadership that prioritizes public safety and accountability.
As the city approaches its upcoming election in November, voters will have the opportunity to choose new leadership and make their voices heard in the ongoing fight for safer streets and stronger communities.
Parks’ comments have left many questioning how an elected official tasked with serving the people of Cincinnati could so casually disregard the pain and suffering caused by violent crime.
With an election on the horizon, the public is demanding answers and change.
