Clarence Thomas Shames Al Sharpton, Rebukes Ketanji Brown Jackson in Opinion on Affirmative Action

Clarence Thomas has shamed Al Sharpton and issued a sharp rebuke of fellow Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson in his opinion on affirmative action.

Recently-appointed Justice Jackson wrote ending affirmative action as the court ordered, โ€œlocks blacks into a seemingly perpetual inferior caste.

“Such a view is irrational; it is an insult to individual achievement and cancerous to young minds seeking to push through barriers, rather than consign themselves to permanent victimhood.โ€

Al Sharpton said: โ€œI think that this is tantamount to sticking a dagger in our back because what they have said now is that it is unconstitutional to even consider race.

โ€œAnd given the racial history of the country, letโ€™s not act like blacks are behind because thereโ€™s something in our genes that made us behind.โ€

โ€œWe were enslaved 246 years.

โ€œSo it is to completely throw to the wind the history of why we needed Affirmative Action in the first place.

โ€œAnd I think it is unimaginable not to consider race, given the history of this country and given the data that we still see in this country.

โ€œBlacks are still 10 percent less in terms of family wealth than whites.

“We are still less in education.

โ€œSo either youโ€™re saying weโ€™re genetically inferior or that thereโ€™s something that is unequal in society and is unequal because of law.โ€

Justice Thomas wrote that Justice Jackson, in her dissent, attempts to link โ€œthe legacy of slavery and the nature of inherited wealthโ€ to the disproportionately negative socioeconomic outcomes for black Americans.

โ€œJustice Jacksonโ€™s race-infused worldview falls flat at each step.

“Individuals are the sum of their unique experiences, challenges, and accomplishments.

โ€œWhat matters is not the barriers they face, but how they choose to confront them.

โ€œThis, she claims, locks blacks into a seemingly perpetual inferior caste.

โ€œMany universities have for too long wrongly concluded that the touchstone of an individualโ€™s identity is not challenges bested, skills built, or lessons learned, but the color of their skin,โ€ Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the opinion.

โ€œEliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it,โ€ he added.
