Liz Cheney Booed at Alma Mater, Graduates Turn Their Backs during Speech

Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney was met with a frosty reception from some of the students at her alma mater, the liberal Colorado College.

Cheney visited her old college to deliver a commencement address but was met with boos and protests from students.

During her speech, several graduates turned their backs as she spoke.

Many held signs calling Cheney a “warmonger” and accusing her of spreading “hate.”

Cheney was met with a clear view of the students’ defiant backs as she again blasted her “fellow Republicans” and President Donald Trump.

Despite her efforts to push the false anti-Trump “insurrection” narrative during her time on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee, Cheney opined on the virtues of telling the truth.

“After the 2020 election and the attack of January 6th, my fellow Republicans wanted me to lie,” she misleadingly told the graduating class.

“They wanted me to say that the 2020 election was stolen, that the attack of January 6th wasn’t a big deal, and that Donald Trump wasn’t dangerous.”

“I had to choose between lying and losing my position in House leadership,” she continued.

“As I spoke to my colleagues on my last morning as chair of the Republican Conference in May of 2021, I told them that if they wanted a leader who would lie, they should choose someone else.”

She recalled her “final act as chair” — an opening prayer.

“As the House Republicans bowed our heads in the auditorium beneath the Capitol, I prayed that we would know a love and a reverence for freedom,” she said.

“I prayed that we would remember that democratic systems could fray and suddenly unravel and that when they do, they are gone forever.”

While Cheney did receive applause, some of the students delivered a message of their own.

Clearly, the divisive speaker knew not everyone at the college was happy to see her.

She began her address with, “It’s an honor to be here with most of you to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment.”

It was easy to see which students weren’t recipients of Cheney’s “honor.”

One student’s cap was emblazoned with the words, “Why listen to a racist, imperialist, transphobic, warmonger?? Your hate is loud.”

Cheney went on to blast “election denier” Cleta Mitchell, who worked for Trump following the contested 2020 election.

At a recent Republican National Committee (RNC) retreat, Mitchell discussed the impact of polling places on college campuses, The Washington Post reported.

“Cleta Mitchell, an election denier and adviser to former President Trump, told a gathering of Republicans recently that it is crucially important to make sure that college students don’t vote,” Cheney said.

“Those who are trying to unravel the foundations of our republic, who are threatening the rule of law and the sanctity of our elections, know they can’t succeed if you vote.”

On Twitter, many cheered on the protesting students and noted that Cheney is “homeless.”

“I predicted she would end up without support of either party…..” one user wrote, “but it was a no-brainer prediction.”
