House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the senior lawmaker leading the congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, is weighing in after the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the disgraced former British prince.
Comer issued a warning to Epstein’s other co-conspirators following the arrest of ex-Prince Andrew, underscoring growing pressure for accountability tied to the sprawling scandal.
In a statement, Comer said the development reinforces the need for transparency and justice for Epstein’s victims.
“There must be accountability for anyone who was involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific crimes,” Comer warned.
“The Justice Department’s transparency is ensuring that no one is above the law — even British royalty.”
Arrest Intensifies Global Scrutiny
News of Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office broke in the early hours of Thursday, as Slay News was first to report.
The shock arrest came following reports that British authorities were examining allegations he shared confidential information with Epstein.
Andrew has denied wrongdoing connected to Epstein, though he remained one of the disgraced financier’s most prominent associates for years.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s earliest accusers, alleged that Andrew raped her on three separate occasions when she was a minor.
She alleged that one of those incidents occurred in London as she was trafficked to Andrew by Epstein and his convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
Giuffre was found dead in April of last year.
Her death was ruled a suicide.
Epstein is believed to have died in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking charges.
His death was ruled a suicide.
Andrew’s arrest marks a dramatic escalation in the long-running scandal that has already toppled powerful figures across politics, finance, and global institutions.
Republicans Credit Push for Transparency
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), an early congressional voice calling for Andrew’s arrest, framed the moment as the result of sustained pressure from lawmakers demanding the full release of Epstein-related records.
“If you’re watching a former prince get arrested today, remember: four Republicans refused to flinch, refused to fold, and forced the Epstein files into the light,” Mace said.
“Courage has consequences. So does corruption.”
Mace was among a small group of Republicans who joined Democrats to compel a House vote requiring the Justice Department to release all Epstein-related files.
The measure ultimately passed with near-unanimous support.
Democrats Renew Calls for Broader Accountability
Democrats on the Oversight Committee also pointed to the arrest as justification for expanding the investigation to other alleged Epstein associates.
Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) said Andrew “appears repeatedly in the documents we have uncovered as having knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and is specifically named by victims as someone who engaged in wrongdoing.”
“We hope today’s arrest will lead to answers and show that there will be accountability even if you hide, regardless of how rich and powerful you are,” he said.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) added in a post on X:
“This is exactly the kind of accountability we need from the Department of Justice.
“It’s time to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Investigation Momentum Builds
Andrew’s arrest comes amid intensifying congressional scrutiny, newly released federal records, and mounting public pressure to identify all individuals connected to Epstein’s criminal network.
With lawmakers from both parties now publicly demanding consequences, the case appears poised to remain a central political and legal flashpoint as investigators continue pursuing answers in one of the most consequential scandals in modern history.
