Conservative Latina radio star Lourdes Ubieta has told George Soros to go pound sand and quit her job after the radical billionaire’s leftist group took over the station.
Ubieta left Radio Mambi, a stalwart conservative radio station, after a Soros-funded left-wing propaganda group bought it.
The Democrat-led media group is trying to challenge conservative dominance over talk radio in the Spanish-language market ahead of the midterm elections.
As Slay News has been reporting, the company, Latino Media Network (LMN), bought 18 major Spanish-language radio stations owned by the TelevisaUnivision network, including Miamiโs leading conservative station Radio Mambรญ.
The new media company is funded by Soros, headed by Stephanie Valencia, a Latino outreach director for former President Barack Obama, and Democrat activist Jess Morales Rocketto.
They bought the stations for $60 million.
LMN is a startup in the media space and raised $80 million from โleading Latino investorsโ and Soros’ investment group, Lakestar Finance.
However, conservative radio stars are not about to switch sides to start promoting Democrats ahead of the midterms.
Ubieta is refusing to take orders from Sorosโ team and moved to Americano Media, a SiriusXM radio network.
โWhat I believe is this is about control and about politics,” Ubieta said.
โAnd they are trying to silence the conservativesโ voices, especially in Spanish.
โMy country is the United States of America.
“And Iโm not going anywhere, and Iโm not going to be silenced either.โ
She said earlier: โWhat is happening here is that they are trying to silence the conservative voices.
“We are very few actually, very few hosts, conservative hosts in Spanish.
โAnd the Democrats believe that they can win the Hispanic vote by taking over these 18 radio stations through the United States.
โHispanics are not voting because someone is telling them in the radio station what they have to do.
โHispanics, we are voting because of inflation, because of quality of life, because all the things that we have to face daily to raise our kids, to build our families.
โSo what I would say about this is that itโs a shame that the Democrats use their power, with the backing of someone like George Soros, to use and try to misuse the goal, that means having a radio station,โ she said.
The group is buying important AM and FM stations located in 10 of the countryโs largest Latino markets, including Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston and Las Vegas.
Valencia said:
โLatinos are constantly trying to navigate the ocean of information.
โIn some cases that is disinformation, in some cases that is very one-sided communication.
โIn the Latino community radio still plays such an important part, and in places like Florida it obviously plays a critically important part.
โFrom some of the research weโve seen, upwards of 70% of Latinos are getting their news and information about politics and elections from places like YouTubeโ and that Latinoโs โare looking for trusted voices.
โThere are elements of Radio Mambรญ that are really important to preserve. It has been an important part of the community and experience in Miami.
โBut we do believe in balanced journalism.
โAs Latinos drive population growth in the United States and with minority media on the decline, now is the time to be investing in more resources to create content for Latinos by Latinos,โ Valencia said.
This is big news.
โUnivision is selling many of its Spanish-language radio stations โ including Miami’s ultraconservative Radio Mambi โ to a group led by Democrats.โ
Stations are located in 10 of biggest Latino markets including: Miami, NY, LA, Chicago.https://t.co/ImiC1K9tK5
