Authorities identified the gunman behind a deadly “anti-ICE” shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas, Texas, as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn.
Police say Jahn opened fire on the federal facility from a nearby rooftop, striking three detainees traveling in an unmarked transport van before killing himself around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
One person died and two others were injured.
Authorities found Jahn dead with a rifle at the scene.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted a photo of rifle-caliber ammunition recovered from the scene, with rounds engraved with an “anti-ICE” message.

The attack comes just weeks after another violent ambush on ICE and local law enforcement in Prarieland, Texas, where 16 individuals have since been charged in connection with an assault that left an Alvarado police officer wounded on July 4.
“These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off,” Patel wrote on X.
“It has to end, and the FBI and our partners will lead these investigative efforts to ensure that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice.”
Leaders Condemn Escalating Anti-ICE Violence
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said the Dallas attack was part of a broader pattern of politically charged violence aimed at law enforcement.
“The attack on ICE in Dallas is yet another despicable assault on law and order,” Paxton said.
“The epidemic of leftist political violence must end.
“Democrats have fostered an environment of evil, emboldening radicals to kill, steal, and destroy.
“But we will never surrender.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott also condemned the attack, pledging continued support for ICE officers.
“The shooter’s actions will NOT slow our arrest, detention, & deportation of illegal immigrants,” Abbott said. “We will work with ICE & the Dallas Police Department to get to the bottom of the assassin’s motive.”
Vice President JD Vance and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem both drew direct lines between the far-left’s rhetoric and the growing wave of violence against immigration authorities.
“These horrendous killings must serve as a wake-up call to the far left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences,” Noem posted on X.
“Comparing ICE day in and day out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences,” she added.
“The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters.
“They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer.
“Like everyone else, they just want to go home to their families at night.”
For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed.

Pattern of Attacks
The Dallas shooting marks yet another escalation in a series of organized, politically motivated attacks against federal immigration officers and facilities.
In July, armed assailants wearing tactical gear opened fire on an ICE facility in Alvarado, injuring a responding officer and sparking a broader investigation into violent extremist networks.
Officials say Wednesday’s attack underscores the increasingly hostile environment ICE officers face, fueled by years of demonization from left-wing politicians and activists who liken immigration enforcement to totalitarian regimes.
Law enforcement officials at both the state and federal levels vowed Wednesday that the violence will be met with aggressive prosecutions and increased security protections for ICE personnel.
