Democrat Congressman: Biden ‘Didn’t Recognize Friend at D-Day Event’

A Democrat congressman has revealed that President Joe Biden couldn’t recognize him when he bumped into him during the recent D-Day anniversary event in France, despite them being old friends.

The allegation was made by Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), who is one of a growing number of Democrat lawmakers calling on Biden to drop his re-election bid.

Moulton said the incident occurred at the 80th D-Day anniversary event in Normandy last month.

He is among 35 Democrats who have now called for Biden to quit the presidential race.

Moulton said he had “treasured” Biden as a “mentor and friend” since 2014.

He said they grew close when the president organized a big rally for Moulton’s election campaign.

In a column in the Boston Globe, Moulton wrote:

“Every time we crossed paths and I caught his eye, he would break into that big, wide Joe Biden grin and say how glad he was to see me.

“It was like that just last Christmas at the White House Ball.

“More recently, I saw him in a small group at Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

“For the first time, he didn’t seem to recognize me.”

He said it was a “crushing realization” and he was “no longer confident” that Biden is longer fit to serve.

The congressman warns his fellow Democrats that Biden is not capable of winning the presidential race.

“The president should bow out of the race,” he added.

Moulton was the third House Democrat to call on the 81-year-old leader to end his campaign.

At the time, he said Biden had given “enormous service” to the US.

However, Moulton argues that it is time for Biden to follow in George Washington’s footsteps and “stand aside to let new leaders rise up.”

Behind the scenes, more and more Democrat officials, top donors, and key Biden allies are reportedly urging the president to reconsider his decision to stay in the race.

Should Biden drop out ahead of the Democratic National Committee convention in August, Vice President Kamala Harris is acknowledged to be in the best position to receive the party’s nomination.

However, some Democrats fear she would do no better than Biden and also lose to Trump.

Some Democrats are hoping for a candidate unaffiliated with the current administration to be nominated in an open convention.

Biden has made no public indication that he intends to step aside, and his campaign has forcefully denied all suggestions to the contrary.

“Absolutely the president is in this race, you’ve heard him say that time and again,” Biden Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“I’m not here to say this hasn’t been a tough several weeks for the campaign, there’s no doubt that it has been, and we’ve definitely seen some slippage in support.

“But it has been a small movement.”

However, as Slay News reported earlier, multiple insiders have been reporting that Biden is planning to drop his re-election bid as early as this weekend.
