Democrat John Fetterman Breaks with Biden on Withholding Weapons for Israel

Democrat Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has broken ranks with President Joe Biden regarding shipments of weapons for Israel.

Fetterman said he “doesn’t agree” with Biden about “withholding any kind of munitions” to Israel in the conflict with Hamas, Breitbart reported.

The Democrat senator, who has been stumping for Biden’s 2024 campaign in his state of Pennsylvania, made his opinion crystal clear on Fox News’s “Special Report.”

Host Bret Baier asked Fetterman about his stance after comments the lawmaker made earlier that day broke with the president and humiliated Democrats.

Fetterman said Biden “has been very supportive [of] Israel.”

However, Fetterman said he disagrees with the president’s reluctance to send help in the form of weapons.

“I don’t think we should be withholding any kind of munitions, and I think…we need to send them immediately,” Fetterman said.

“Of course, Israel is in this kind of war, and we — I have no conditions.

“I never have, and I can’t imagine I ever will,” he said emphatically.

This is an explicit promise from Fetterman at a time when Biden seems to be waffling.

While Biden is not overtly pulling back from Israel, Baier pointed out that the U.S. is “slow-walking these arms sales,” which begs the question of whether that is an eventuality.

“Do you think the U.S. support for Israel, he said today it was ironclad, but if they are slow-walking these arms sales, how can you say both things?” Baier asked Fetterman.

“Yeah,” Fetterman replied.

“Well, like I said, I do think the President has stood with Israel, but we have disagreed on issues like that.”

“If anyone — if there should be any kind of conditions, it should be on Hamas and its [en]ablers, and its benefactors,” the senator later added.

Meanwhile, the U.S. paused a weapons shipment last week over a military operation Israel launched on the Palestinian city of Rafah, NBC News reported.

The American ally was supposed to receive a shipment that included 1,700 500-pound bombs and another 1,800 2,000-pound bombs.

Because Israel used the 2,000-pound bombs on Rafah, the White House has become “especially focused” on making sure they use no more of them.

This about-face is part of a troubling trend as Israel fights back against the Hamas terrorists.

Although Hamas staged a brutal attack against Israel, support for any defensive military maneuvers has quickly dried up.

Spurred on by the radical Left, Biden has increased the pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a “ceasefire.”

Despite the pressure from the top, Fetterman said he supported Israel in its decision to move in on Rafah toward a decisive victory rather than a temporary truce.

“Well, I follow Israel on that,” he told Baier.

“They would know the situation more than I do.

“And I’m always trying to center this to people where it’s like Hamas could — well, they started this,” Fetterman correctly pointed out.

“And this could end right now if they send all those hostages back home and they could surrender, and all of the — but they clearly don’t care about all the Palestinian death and chaos and damage,” Fetterman later said.

“In fact, that’s the way they designed that.

“Israel actually cares about minimizing those civilian deaths.

“But Hamas sees that as just their own [kind] of collateral damage.”

Biden and the Democrats are increasingly turning against Israel and its right to defend itself.

It’s amazing that Fetterman, who was viewed as a radical leftist during his election campaign, has now become the voice of reason among them.
