Democrat Rashida Tlaib Accused of ‘Celebrating Terrorism’ in Pro-Hamas Speech

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is facing another Republican-led push to censure her after a weekend speech at a pro-Hamas conference in Detroit.

During the event, the radical congresswoman denounced both parties for backing Israel.

Tlaib, the first Palestinian American elected to Congress and a frequent critic of Israel, told attendees at the People’s Conference for Palestine that Washington was losing ground in the fight over Gaza.

“Outside of the decaying halls of the empire in Washington, D.C., we are winning. They are scared,” Tlaib declared.

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), who introduced the censure resolution, blasted Tlaib for what he described as dangerous rhetoric that emboldens anti-Semitism.

“Her conduct is beneath that of a civilized person, let alone a member of Congress,” Carter warned.

“I am calling on the House of Representatives to censure her remarks and put Democrats on notice for enabling and cheering on antisemitism in their own party.”

Carter’s resolution accuses Tlaib of “vilifying her colleagues, endangering the lives of Jewish people, and celebrating terrorism.”

The Georgia Republican, who is running for U.S. Senate in 2026, also tied Tlaib’s speech to other speakers at the conference who explicitly advocated for disrupting U.S. defense supply chains and targeting Western leaders.

At the Detroit event, activist Aisha Nizar of the Palestinian Youth Movement urged attendees to “intervene” in the production of F-35 fighter jets.

“If one specific node of the F-35 supply chain is intervened in, it has a huge impact for our people back home,” Nizar said.

“We need to be surgical. We need to be strategic.

“And we need to be bold in our actions.

“Because there are many different points of these supply chains of death that we can intervene in.”

Another speaker, Nidal Jboor of Doctors Against Genocide, reportedly said Western and Israeli leaders “must be locked up, taken out, neutralized to save children and humanity,” according to the Middle East Media Research Institute.

While it remains unclear how closely Tlaib is tied to those individuals, Carter’s resolution links her appearance to a broader pattern of anti-Israel statements and controversies.

“Representative Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly displayed conduct entirely unbecoming of a member of the House of Representatives by calling for the destruction of the state of Israel and by dangerously promoting terrorism and extremism, while Israeli and American hostages remain in terrorist captivity,” the resolution reads.

Tlaib, for her part, dismissed complaints about anti-Israel protests targeting her colleagues’ district offices.

“They are scared,” she said.

“They send me videos and messages of people protesting in front of their district offices, people showing up at their town halls, and I was like, we’re not all related.

“Those are fellow Americans.

“Maybe you should meet with them and listen.”

The censure push comes as Congress remains deeply divided over Israel’s war in Gaza.

The conflict began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terror attack that killed more than 1,000 people in southern Israel, many of them civilians.

Israel’s military campaign has since drawn mounting criticism from Democrats and some Republicans over its scale.

International organizations are warning of famine conditions in Gaza.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry claims tens of thousands of civilians have been killed since the war began.

However, the ministry frequently publishes false data and counts terrorists as civilians.

Tlaib, one of the most vocal critics of U.S. support for Israel, has repeatedly clashed with both parties in Congress over the issue and now faces another formal rebuke.
