Democrat Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) openly boasted during an MSNBC interview that “half” of her family is in the United States illegally.
The stunning admission comes just days after she labeled Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a “terrorist organization.”
During an appearance on the network, Ramirez gloated, without hesitation:
“For me, who is the daughter of immigrants, who half my family is still undocumented…”
The remarks quickly drew backlash from critics.
Many accused the Illinois Democrat of prioritizing the interests of illegal aliens over the constituents she was elected to serve.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shared the clip of Ramirez’s comments and slammed them as “disgusting.”

DISGUSTING. If there was any doubt that the Congresswoman from Illinois is fighting for illegal aliens over her ACTUAL constituents, here she is proudly claiming that her family is "undocumented."

Ramirez’s comments follow a controversial appearance at the Panamerican Congress in Mexico City.
As Slay News reported, Ramirez told the audience, in Spanish, that she is “a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American.”
The video went viral online, sparking calls from prominent voices for Ramirez to be stripped of her citizenship.
The statement resonated with the so-called “progressive” crowd at the conference.
She continued to accuse the United States of pushing “imperialism, militarization, conquest, [and] control” in its quest for global domination.

Notably, Ramirez is married to a man who is in the country illegally.
On her website, she boasts that she is the only congressional lawmaker “in a mixed-status marriage” and advocates for the “rights of DREAMers,” including her husband, Boris, while pushing for “comprehensive immigration reform.”
The Illinois lawmaker has a long record of hostility toward U.S. immigration enforcement.
Her recent “terrorist organization” label for ICE is consistent with her repeated attacks on the agency and her support for sanctuary policies that shield criminal illegal aliens from deportation.
Critics argue her latest admission helps explain her determination to undermine immigration enforcement and why she routinely backs measures that weaken border security.
Reaction to Ramirez’s statements has been swift and fierce.
“Awesome. Go home,” podcast host Megyn Kelly posted on X.
“Denaturalize and deport,” conservative commentator Jesse Kelly added.
“I’m not even close to kidding.”
The controversy comes as President Donald Trump continues his second-term crackdown on illegal immigration.
The Trump administration is pushing aggressive enforcement measures aimed at restoring border security and ending “sanctuary” protections for criminal aliens.
