Democrats Brace for Adam Schiff’s Indictment

Democrats and the U.S. Senate are bracing for the inevitable criminal indictment of anti-Trump Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

For years, the California senator and former impeachment manager relentlessly pursued President Donald Trump under false pretenses.

Schiff now faces a serious Department of Justice probe into allegations of mortgage fraud.

The allegations are far more concrete than anything he ever claimed against Trump.

The investigation centers on whether Schiff falsified bank documents and property records in order to secure favorable mortgage terms on his Maryland residence, all while claiming a California condo as his primary home during his 2023 Senate campaign.

According to federal officials, the Federal Housing Finance Agency referred the matter to the DOJ after discovering evidence that Schiff may have repeatedly misrepresented his residency on loan forms.

Potential charges include wire fraud, bank fraud, and submitting false financial statements.

The charges are felony offenses carrying real prison exposure.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether Schiff falsely declared his Maryland house as his primary residence to obtain better financing while actually living full-time in his Burbank condo.

If DOJ prosecutors can prove intentional deception, Schiff could face a criminal case far more severe than the “paperwork error” characterization his allies are already pushing.

Meanwhile, Schiff is denying the allegations.

He has launched a legal defense fund and assembled a high-profile defense team led by former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Schiff’s campaign account currently holds $8.6 million, including $2 million raised last quarter in spite of the fact that he does not face reelection until 2030.

His defense fund allows donations up to $10,000 per year and requires him to disclose all financial data to the Senate Ethics Committee.

Politico reports that Schiff’s operation has already formed a rapid-response communications team to manage the political fallout.

Democrats Already Laying Groundwork to Cry “Weaponization”

Some Democrats are openly panicking.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) told reporters he has spoken with Republicans who are “disquieted, if not dismayed, by the increasing weaponization of the Department of Justice.”

However, Blumenthal’s claim was met with immediate skepticism on Capitol Hill.

Blumenthal argued that prosecuting Schiff would “tear down the rule of law that protects them and all Americans.”

For years, Democrats insisted “no one is above the law” as they cheered aggressive investigations into Trump.

They did not object when Biden’s DOJ indicted Trump multiple times; in fact, they demanded it.

Biden even said in 2022, “I’m making sure [Trump], under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next President again.”

Many saw that as a direct threat of prosecution, which the Biden administration ultimately followed through on.

Now, the same Democrats who weaponized the justice system against a sitting president claim that charging Schiff would “shatter institutional norms.”

Their sudden shift is not subtle.

History Proves Democrats Wrong

The Democrat argument collapses under basic historical scrutiny.

Indicting sitting senators is not unusual and it’s completely legal regardless of which party controls the Justice Department.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was indicted on corruption charges in 2023.

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) was indicted in 2008.

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) and Sen. David Durenberger (R-MN) were indicted in 1993.

In total, 13 sitting senators from both parties have faced criminal indictments, according to The Washington Post.

Schiff would not be the first.

He simply would be the first Democrat who spent years weaponizing federal law enforcement against Trump, only to find himself under investigation for real criminal conduct.

Accountability Is Not “Authoritarianism”

Of course, the Democrats are framing their pursuit of Trump as a moral duty.

They repeated endlessly that “no one is above the law.”

Now, faced with the possibility that one of their most partisan operatives may be indicted for mortgage fraud, they have pivoted to portraying accountability as tyranny.

But accountability is not the collapse of democracy.

It is the enforcement of laws that Democrats claimed to revere, until those laws targeted one of their own.

If no one is above the law, then Adam Schiff isn’t either.
