DHS: Federal Agents Attacked by Armed Leftists Near Chicago, ‘Rammed by Vehicles’

Federal immigration officers came under violent attack from armed leftists in suburban Chicago, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said on X that agents in Broadview were “rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars” during routine patrols on Saturday.

Unable to move, the agents exited their vehicles and encountered one of the drivers armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

“Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots,” McLaughlin said.

The armed driver was identified in a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence bulletin just last week for allegedly doxxing agents online and inciting violence against them.

The driver was wounded and transported to a hospital.

McLaughlin stressed that no federal officers were seriously injured in the ambush.

DHS Calls It Domestic Terrorism

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller described the attack as “domestic terrorism and seditious insurrection.”

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem issued her own statement on X, calling the assault an escalation of coordinated violence against federal law enforcement.

“Today in Chicago, members of our brave law enforcement were attacked—rammed and boxed in by ten vehicles, including an attacker with a semi-automatic weapon,” Noem wrote.

“I am deploying more special operations to control the scene. Reinforcements are on their way.”

The Chicago Fire Department confirmed that the wounded woman was hospitalized with a gunshot wound and listed in stable condition.

ABC7 News reported that two people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Political Backlash In Illinois

The violence comes as tensions rise between Illinois Democrats and the Trump administration over federal law enforcement operations.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker denounced the administration’s decision to federalize roughly 300 members of the Illinois National Guard to support DHS in Chicago.

The move follows an earlier request from DHS for the Department of War to send 100 military personnel to reinforce security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and facilities.

Pritzker complained that federal involvement was an overreach, even as DHS officials described the Broadview attack as part of a dangerous pattern of escalating assaults on ICE.

Pattern Of Escalation

The Broadview incident occurred less than 24 hours after federal officers were reportedly assaulted in the same area.

According to DHS, the intelligence bulletin naming the armed suspect had warned of threats to “fck those mother fckers up” in reference to ICE agents.

Officials said the latest ambush underscores the danger facing federal law enforcement across the country.

“This is not peaceful protest,” Miller said.

“It is organized violence against officers who enforce the law.”
