DOJ to Issue Grand Jury Subpoenas for John Brennan Investigation

Department of Justice (DOJ) officials in Miami and Washington, D.C., are preparing to issue multiple grand jury subpoenas as part of an expanding investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan.

The move was revealed in leaks to Fox News.

According to Fox News, Jason Reding Quiñones, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, is supervising the probe.

It was first reported in early July 2025 that Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey were under federal investigation.

Thursday’s development indicates the Brennan case is intensifying.

Comey is already fighting charges in court.

The ex-FBI chief faces a trial scheduled for January.

Brennan has not yet been indicted, however.

Prosecutors have not confirmed whether the evidence being presented to a grand jury in South Florida will lead to an indictment.

Referral from Chairman Jim Jordan

The renewed scrutiny follows a criminal referral last month from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH)

Jordan urged the Justice Department to pursue charges against Brennan.

The Judiciary Committee chairman stated that Brennan “willfully and intentionally” made false statements to Congress.

Jordan accused Brennan of lying in his 2023 testimony by denying that the CIA used the Steele dossier while preparing the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russian election interference.

The congressman also alleges that Brennan falsely claimed the CIA opposed including information from the dossier.

The Steele dossier, compiled in 2016 by former British spy Christopher Steele, contained a series of false allegations regarding President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

Portions of the dossier were provided to the FBI that same year.

What Comes Next

The Justice Department has not publicly commented on the status of the probe or the timing of potential subpoenas.

It remains unclear when evidence will be presented to the grand jury or whether charges against Brennan will ultimately be recommended.

This is a developing story.
