Images released by the Los Angeles Police Department show the dramatic moment 32-year-old Nick Reiner was taken into custody on suspicion of murdering his parents.
The arrest comes after acclaimed Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found brutally stabbed to death in their Los Angeles home.
The photos, initially shared by the LAPD’s Narcotics and Gang Division, show officers surrounding Reiner as he is restrained on the ground during a struggle.
Another image shows Nick Reiner in handcuffs beside a police cruiser.
Reiner, who was officially charged with the double homicide on Monday, is expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday.
According to the LAPD, officers responded to the Reiners’ Brentwood home Sunday afternoon after a call for a death investigation.
In a statement, the department said:
“On December 14, 2025, around 3:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers assigned to West Los Angeles Division responded to a call of a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue.
“Once inside the residence, officers discovered two victims, who were subsequently identified as Robert and Michele Reiner.
“Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section (RHD/HSS), responded to the residence and initiated an investigation regarding the circumstances of their deaths.”
The LAPD confirmed the deaths were homicides and identified the couple’s son as the individual responsible.
“As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide,” the department added.
“The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.”
Police say Reiner was booked for murder and is being held without bail.
Family friends told the Los Angeles Times that Nick and his parents were seen arguing at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party the night before the killings.
TMZ reported that after Rob and Nick got into a “very loud argument,” Rob and Michele left the party early.
Reiner was originally booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center before being moved to the Inmate Reception Center.
As of Monday, online records show he has been transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is now being held.
The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare the case in what has become one of the most high-profile double homicide cases in recent memory.
