Elon Musk has declared that President Donald Trump deserves “credit” for brokering peace in the Middle East.
The surprise remarks from Musk come just hours after Trump discussed the possibility of deporting the Tesla CEO to his native South Africa.
Musk appeared to change his recent negative tune about Trump, giving the president credit for resolving numerous world conflicts.
Sharing a social media post from Trump early Wednesday, Musk said on X:
“Credit where credit is due.”
“@realDonaldTrump has successfully resolved several serious conflicts around the world.”
Musk shared a message Trump had posted Tuesday on Truth Social.
In the post, the president stated:
“My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza.
“Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War.
“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal.
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Musk has recently been vocal in his opposition to Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”
The X boss is opposing the bill over concerns about the swelling national debt.
In a Monday post on X, Musk wrote:
“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!
“Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people.”
Trump pushed back early Tuesday, however.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.
“No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.
“Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this?
“BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”
When reporters asked Trump later Tuesday morning if he would deport Musk, the president said, “We’ll have to take a look.”
Referring to the Department of Government Efficiency that Musk previously led, Trump added:
“We might have to put DOGE on Elon.”
“You know what DOGE is?
“DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon.”
Reporter: Are you going to deport Elon Musk?
Trump: We'll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies. pic.twitter.com/6I0OAIv7Js

Musk responded to Trump, saying: “So tempting to escalate this.
“So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.”

On Monday, Musk vowed to bankroll primary challengers of any Republican lawmaker who voted to pass Trump’s bill “if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
When asked by ABC News about Musk’s criticism, Trump reiterated that it was about the EV mandate.
“He should’ve known I wouldn’t do that, I couldn’t do that,” he said.
“I campaigned on those things for two years.
“I never understand why he did what he did, but he’s not going to get his mandate, and he better be careful, because he might not get anything else.
“You know what that means, right?”
