Newly released Jeffrey Epstein files reveal that the disgraced financier used his international connections to help the daughter of one of his lawyers secure a placement in an elite Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit.
The emails, reported by The Grayzone, show Epstein reaching out to Anat Barak, the daughter of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, in 2011 to advocate for the young woman.
The revelations add to the growing body of documents showing how Epstein maintained relationships with powerful political and international figures, even after his 2008 conviction for child sex crimes became widely known.
Epstein Email Requested Help With IDF Placement
In a June 29, 2011, email, Epstein contacted Anat Barak regarding an 18-year-old woman identified as “Tali.”
Epstein wrote that she had been accepted to Barnard College at Columbia University and had visited Israel more than a dozen times.
According to the email, the young woman had spent summers hiking the Israel Trail and had worked as a counselor at a summer camp in Dimona, Israel, for children affected by terrorism.
Epstein told Barak she “would be a great asset to any unit.”
He also wrote that after completing military service, “she would be a fantastic ambassador for Israel” at Columbia, which he described as “one of the more important college campuses in the country.”
Response from Former Prime Minister’s Daughter
Within hours, Anat Barak reportedly responded.
“Tali sounds like an amazing girl,” she wrote.
“I’ll be in touch with her, and we’ll take care of her.”

Barak then contacted the young woman directly, writing that “Jeffrey Epstein told me about you and about your plans to join the IDF this summer.”
She added, “This is absolutely wonderful,” and wrote “Kol Ha’kavod!”
Kol Ha’kavod is a Hebrew phrase expressing admiration or respect.

Young Woman Identified as Talia Lefkowitz
Public records reviewed by The Grayzone suggest the woman referenced in the emails is Talia Lefkowitz.
Her father, Jay Lefkowitz, served as Epstein’s lawyer and was involved in negotiating the controversial non-prosecution agreement Epstein received from then-U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta.
At the time, Jay Lefkowitz argued that Epstein was “not in any way a typical sex offender.”
Talia Lefkowitz has not commented regarding the emails.
Later Service in Israeli Military
According to her LinkedIn profile, Lefkowitz later served as a sergeant in an IDF Special Forces paratrooper unit, believed to be the 35th Paratroopers Brigade.
After completing her military service as a lone soldier, she returned to the United States to continue her studies at Barnard College.
During that period, she became active in pro-Israel advocacy, writing opinion pieces for outlets including the Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel.
Involvement in Jewish and Pro-Israel Organizations
The Grayzone report also states that Lefkowitz became heavily involved with the Columbia-Barnard chapter of Hillel International, a major Jewish student organization.
She later served on the Hillel International board from 2020 to 2022.
Currently, Lefkowitz works as a philanthropy advisor for the Areivim Philanthropic Group, which focuses on Jewish education and programs promoting Hebrew language, Zionism, and Israel-related initiatives.
According to her biography with the organization, she previously spent five years working for The Paul E. Singer Foundation, a philanthropic organization funded by billionaire Paul Singer, which supports various pro-Israel initiatives and media projects.

As more files become public, investigators and journalists are continuing to scrutinize how Epstein maintained influence and relationships with prominent individuals around the world even after his criminal activities were widely known.
