Eric Adams Warns Jewish New Yorkers Should Be Worried for Their Children After Mamdani Win

Outgoing New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a stark warning to Jewish New Yorkers over the weekend, telling them plainly that “everything is not fine” under the incoming administration of radical Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani.

Speaking during a fireside chat at the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) summit in Tel Aviv on Sunday, Adams said Jewish families in the city have every reason to be concerned about their safety once Mayor-elect Mamdani takes office in 2026.

Mamdani, a far-left figure aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has frequently been accused of anti-Semitism.

Adams began a multiday visit to Israel on Friday and was honored at the summit for fighting anti-Semitism.

During the event, he was asked directly about the future safety of Jewish residents under the new mayor.

His response was blunt.

“We need to be honest about the moment and cannot sugarcoat it,” Adams said.

“The New York Jewish community must prepare themselves.

“This is a period where you need to be conscious about the level of global hostility towards the Jewish community.

“If I were a Jewish New Yorker, I would be concerned about my children.”

Pressed again, Adams repeated the warning:

“Everything is not fine.

“If you say everything is fine, you are setting yourself up for failure.”

The outgoing mayor ran for re-election this year on an “End Anti-Semitism” line as an independent.

He described the explosion of anti-Semitism and its growing social normalization, especially among younger generations.

He argued that anti-Jewish hostility has been made “cool and hip,” fueled by online radicalization and years of unchecked rhetoric.

“They hijacked our young people,” Adams said.

“Their plan was well executed.

“Now we need a professional plan to fight back.”

He also singled out “the Zohrans of the world,” a reference to Mamdani, for helping inflame anti-Israel sentiment.

Adams criticized activist coalitions like “Queers for Palestine,” noting the irony that “the only place you can walk around in the Middle East being queer is Israel.”

As critics often note, the Hamas terrorists who control “Palestine” execute people suspected of being gay.

Turning to the “Free Palestine” movement, Adams said the slogan “was never about the land” but rather about “the destruction and eradication of Jewish people.”

Drawing a comparison to his own community, Adams told the audience:

“If this were happening to the African-American community, you would not be silent.

“So why are others silent now?”

Although his term is ending, Adams closed by vowing to continue fighting against rising anti-Semitism and supporting New York’s Jewish community.

“I’m not just the mayor that’s leaving office; I’m your brother,” he said.

“We will continue to stand side-by-side with you because you were there for our community time and time again, and I’m going to be here for your community.”
