Ex-Prince Andrew has escaped criminal scrutiny in the latest review by British police, after he was accused of ordering a taxpayer-funded bodyguard to dig “dirt” on his accuser, who was a victim of child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
However, Royal Family insiders say the crisis surrounding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein is far from over, and King Charles is preparing for what could be the most damaging chapter yet.
The Metropolitan Police announced Saturday that investigators found no evidence that the former prince, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, asked a bodyguard to dig up information on the late Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
But the ruling offered little relief inside the palace, coming just one day after Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability released another photo tying Andrew to Epstein’s orbit.
British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard revealed the monarchy is bracing for a flood of new disclosures.
“Andrew is said to be stressed,” Chard said.
“No one knows what to expect. Close family members are monitoring Andrew’s mental health.
“Many fear this photo release is just the tip of the iceberg. Allegedly, Epstein made it his mission to document material on all high-profile contacts, hoping to launch smear campaigns.”
She added, “We have to sit tight as relevant information is assessed. It doesn’t necessarily mean all parties are guilty of criminal acts, although many, along with Andrew, will be feeling distraught as the finger of blame circulates.”
Royal commentator Ian Pelham Turner echoed those concerns.
“This is the continuing nightmare for Andrew and especially King Charles as more photographs emerge showing the former prince with Epstein,” Turner said.
“It’s a drip-feeding of imagery, leaving many wondering what’s coming next, while Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, try to show resolve and rebuild their lives.
“The further danger is that the media is in a feeding frenzy.
“Each revelation could be another nail in the coffin for the royal dynasty.”
Turner said Andrew is now enduring “an excruciating waiting game, unsure what revelations may emerge and fearful he’ll be fed to the lions.”
More Photos, More Questions
Many of the images have circulated for years, but the newly released photograph, taken at the Malaria Summit in London in April 2018, resurfaced after being cropped by the committee.
In the original Getty Images photo, then-Prince Charles appears alongside Bill Gates and Andrew.
In the committee’s version, Charles was edited out.
People magazine reported that the committee said the photo “arrived that way from the estate.”
Another piece of evidence included an email from Epstein in March 2011 addressed to someone listed as “The Duke,” believed to be Andrew at the time.
“You ok? these stories are complete ant utter fantasy,” Epstein wrote.
“I don’t know and have never met Al gore. CLinton was never on the island.. the telephone book is not mine.
“it was stolen by my houseman who is curreently in prison for doing so.”
British royals expert Hilary Fordwich noted that while the latest photos do not reveal new factual information, they increase public demand to see the full pool of remaining Epstein files.
“They nevertheless deepen public pressure to see the full ‘Epstein files’ and any remaining undisclosed connections, which is damning for the royal family,” Fordwich said.
“Andrew is simply toxic in the court of public opinion.”
“This issue is never going away,” she added.
“Each new batch of photos is reputationally corrosive for him.
“Every new image keeps his scandals alive, fuels public disgust, and reduces any remaining chance of quiet rehabilitation.”
Fordwich further warned that “the king’s continued indulgence of his brother is strategically disastrous,” saying Andrew’s conduct has undermined the royal family’s core message of restraint and dignity.
Police Close Review; Giuffre Family “Deeply Disappointed”
The release of the images coincided with Andrew’s first public appearance since being formally stripped of his title, attending his granddaughter’s christening.
At the same moment, the Metropolitan Police announced they would “take no further action” after reviewing allegations that Andrew had once directed a police bodyguard to investigate Giuffre.
The review stemmed from a 2011 claim that Andrew passed Giuffre’s personal information to an officer.
Police concluded their assessment “has not revealed any additional evidence of criminal acts or misconduct” and declined to open an investigation.
“The Met remains committed to thoroughly assessing any new information that could assist in this matter,” said Commander Ella Marriott.
“To date, we have not received any additional evidence that would support reopening the investigation.
“In the absence of any further information, we will be taking no further action.”
“Our thoughts will always be with Ms. Giuffre’s family and friends following her death,” Marriott said.
In response, Giuffre’s family said they were “deeply disappointed,” arguing that “justice has not been served.”
Giuffre, who was found dead in April, alleged she was trafficked as a teenager in the early 2000s and raped by Andrew and other influential men.
Buckingham Palace Looks Ahead and Braces
According to Fordwich, senior royals have already decided Andrew’s future within the monarchy.
“Prince William and Princess Catherine have wisely kept their distance,” she said.
“They’re sending a crystal-clear message that the future of the monarchy views him as a serious liability.
“More damaging photos and other evidence of Andrew’s alleged involvement are expected to be released soon.”
Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 after a disastrous interview with the BBC, attempting to defend his relationship with Epstein.
In 2022, he agreed to an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre after she filed a civil suit in New York.
He did not admit wrongdoing but acknowledged her suffering as a victim of sex trafficking.
Last month, King Charles formally stripped Andrew of his remaining royal title following new disclosures linking him publicly to Epstein.
