FBI Offers $50,000 Reward for Brown University Shooting Suspect

Federal authorities have released new images and surveillance footage of the suspect in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University, intensifying the manhunt as investigators urge the public to come forward with any information.

The FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of the suspect.

Late Monday night, the FBI unveiled a wanted poster featuring three images of what it called an “unknown suspect,” along with the first formal physical description.

“The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8″ with a stocky build,” the bureau said in a press release.

“We sent additional resources and personnel earlier today to help track down leads, canvass neighborhoods, and develop intelligence,” FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in a social media post.

“Our Evidence Response Team remains on campus processing the scene, and our Lab at Quantico is assisting as well.”

New Footage Shows Suspect Before and After Shooting

Providence Police and the Rhode Island State Police also released several new videos Monday evening.

Earlier footage had shown only a dark, indistinct figure near campus; the new clips provide clearer details of the suspect’s posture, gait, and clothing.

One video shows the suspect calmly walking down a residential street minutes after the shooting.

Additional footage taken roughly two hours earlier shows a masked figure in a dark two-tone jacket near Hope and Benevolent streets, just off campus.

In one clip, the suspect slouches and briefly places his hands behind his back, a movement investigators say could aid in identification.

Initial Person of Interest Released After “New Evidence”

Police disclosed that a man was detained early Sunday morning at a hotel roughly 30 miles north of Providence, where officers recovered two firearms.

One gun reportedly matched the type believed to have been used in the shooting.

He was released late Sunday night after “new evidence” redirected the investigation.

The update marks more than 72 hours since the gunman opened fire on a final exam review session in Brown University’s Barus & Holley building, the campus physics and engineering center, around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Two students were killed, and nine others were injured.

Victims Identified as Community Mourns

Authorities identified the two students killed in the attack as:

Authorities Seek Anyone Who Was in the Building

In an update Monday evening, Brown University said Providence police are seeking interviews with all individuals who were inside Barus & Holley on Friday or Saturday.

“Even an incidental detail may be helpful in investigating,” the university said.

The manhunt remains active, and federal agents warn that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
