The FBI has just announced that it has thwarted a potential terrorist attack in Michigan, arresting multiple suspects who were allegedly plotting a violent assault over the Halloween weekend.
In a Friday morning post on X, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote:
“This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend.
“More details to come,” he added.
“Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere, standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”

The arrests, which occurred early Friday morning, followed an intelligence-led investigation involving federal, state, and local authorities.
Officials have not yet released details about the suspects or their motives, but confirmed that the operation prevented a “potentially tragic” situation from unfolding.

“Swift Action” Prevented Tragedy
In a statement, Director Patel credited rapid coordination among law enforcement partners for stopping the plot in time.
“Through swift action and close coordination with our local partners, a potential act of terror was stopped before it could unfold,” Patel said.
“The vigilance of this FBI prevented what could have been a tragic attack — and thanks to their dedication, Michigan will have a safe and happy Halloween.”
The bureau has reportedly increased surveillance and intelligence monitoring across several states during the Halloween weekend.
The annual celebration is a period historically seen by counterterrorism officials as a high-risk window for mass casualty events.
Bongino: “This Is What Real Law Enforcement Looks Like”
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino praised the Michigan operation, describing it as an example of the agency’s proactive approach to national security under President Donald Trump’s administration.
“This is what real law enforcement looks like — proactive, relentless, and focused on saving lives,” Bongino said.
“Our agents and partners in Michigan acted fast, followed the evidence, and stopped a threat before anyone got hurt. Under the leadership of Director Patel and the watch of this FBI, America is a safer place.”
Bongino later posted on X, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to homeland security:

National Security Success Under Trump Administration
The thwarted Michigan plot marks one of the most significant domestic counterterrorism successes of the year.
It follows a series of intelligence briefings warning of potential lone-wolf attacks inspired by overseas extremist propaganda.
Since President Trump restructured the Department of Justice and national security apparatus earlier this year, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security have emphasized a “prevention-first” model.
The administration has been expanding intelligence-sharing between federal and local agencies and reasserting law-and-order priorities.
Patel, who was appointed FBI Director earlier this year, has made aggressive counterterrorism enforcement a top priority. In recent months, the bureau has disrupted plots targeting public venues, churches, and transportation hubs.
