FDA Approves Jeff Bezos’ Lab-Grown Fake ‘Fish’ for U.S Food Supply Without Safety Data

In a move that has raised serious concerns about the future of food safety, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved lab-grown “salmon” for human consumption.

The new fake “fish” product is produced by the Jeff Bezos-funded ag-tech startup Wildtype.

What’s even more alarming is that this approval was based solely on the San Francisco-based company’s internal safety claims, without the requirement for third-party testing, animal trials, or a full public review.

Wildtype is backed by heavyweights like Amazon founder’s investment firm Bezos Expeditions, Cargill, and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

It has now become the fourth company to receive FDA approval to sell lab-cultivated fake “meats.”

While Wildtype’s lab-grown fish is already being served in upscale restaurants, including in Portland, Oregon, the company’s production methods, ingredients, and additives remain largely undisclosed, sparking concern among food safety advocates.

But perhaps the most troubling part of this approval process is the FDA’s reliance on Wildtype’s own research.

Instead of requiring independent studies, the FDA has accepted the company’s self-assessment that its lab-grown “salmon” is as safe as traditionally sourced fish.

According to Wildtype, the fake “fish” is made from real salmon cells that are grown in a lab.

The company claims to follow a “healthy growing state” for the cells.

However, it remains unclear exactly what’s going into the processes used to cultivate this hyperprocessed “food.”

Worryingly, Wildtype has used the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) loophole to get its product approved.

GRAS is a regulatory shortcut that was originally intended for well-known ingredients that have been consumed for years.

In this case, Wildtype has been allowed to skip the rigorous testing typically required for new food products and instead use its own data to claim safety.

Yet, these additives, such as pink coloring, antibacterial agents, and cell growth promoters, are all proprietary, meaning the public will have no clue what’s really going into the “food.”

One of the most concerning aspects of lab-grown meats is the potential long-term health impact.

Research shows that lab-grown “foods” are up to 25 times worse for the environment than real meat.

The products also increase the risk of inflammation and depression.

Yet, Wildtype claims its product is an environmentally friendly, sustainable alternative, despite mounting evidence that lab-grown meats may actually be worse for the planet than traditional animal farming.

Food safety advocates are alarmed by the lack of transparency.

As Jaydee Hanson, policy director for the Center for Food Safety, pointed out, the FDA’s decision to allow the GRAS loophole for a product like lab-grown “salmon” is “outrageous.”

“The FDA is negligent,” Hanson said, calling for the agency to develop new guidelines to properly assess the safety of these new food products, rather than relying on the company’s word alone.

The approval has sparked an outcry from critics who believe this move is part of a larger globalist agenda to control the world’s food supply.

Lab-grown “meats,” like this “salmon,” are seen as part of a push to replace traditional animal farming with highly processed, lab-produced alternatives.

And while some tout these products as a sustainable solution to “climate change,” the true cost, both to public health and the environment, is conveniently being ignored.

It’s time to ask whether the American people are really getting safe, natural food, or if the global elite is pushing us into a world of hyperprocessed, lab-made products with serious health risks, all in the name of profit and control.

The FDA’s approval of Wildtype’s lab-grown “salmon” may just be the beginning of a new era in food production, one that many people, especially concerned food safety advocates, are rightfully skeptical of.
