Federal Agent Forced to Open Fire in California After Illegal Alien ‘Weaponized His Vehicle and Rammed Law Enforcement’

A federal law enforcement officer was forced to open fire on Wednesday morning in Southern California after a criminal illegal alien allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon while attempting to evade arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The incident occurred in Compton, where DHS officers were conducting a targeted operation to arrest William Eduardo Moran Carballo.

Carballo is an illegal alien from El Salvador with a documented criminal history and a final order of removal dating back to 2019.

According to a DHS spokesperson, Carballo is involved in a human smuggling operation and has two prior arrests for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

“In a dangerous attempt to evade arrest, this criminal illegal alien weaponized his vehicle and rammed law enforcement,” the spokesperson said.

“Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired defensive shots.”

The shots did not strike Carballo, who then attempted to flee the scene on foot.

He was successfully apprehended by law enforcement.

DHS confirmed that Carballo was not injured, but a Customs and Border Protection officer was injured during the incident.

“It was [not immediately known] if the individual’s vehicle crashed into other vehicles, was struck by a Border Patrol vehicle, or crashed into something,” the spokesperson told KTLA.

“Sheriff’s deputies are not involved in the shooting [but they] are on scene maintaining a perimeter to keep the public away from the scene.”

Sanctuary Rhetoric Blamed for Surge in Attacks

DHS officials warned that this type of violent resistance is becoming increasingly common.

The department is pointing directly to sanctuary-state policies and rhetoric from Democrat officials.

“These dangerous attempts to evade arrest have surged since sanctuary politicians, including Gavin Newsom, have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest and provided guides advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry, and defy arrest,” the DHS spokesperson said.

According to DHS, federal officers are now facing a 3,200 percent increase in vehicle attacks.

It’s a statistic that the agency attributes to escalating political hostility toward immigration enforcement.

Local Authorities Confirm Limited Role

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it was aware of the incident, which occurred in the 2400 block of 126th Street in unincorporated Los Angeles County.

“At approximately 7:25 a.m., Century Station deputies were requested to provide outside perimeter traffic control,” the department said, noting that sheriff’s deputies were not directly involved in the enforcement action.

Ongoing Pattern of Escalation

The Compton incident follows a growing number of confrontations nationwide in which illegal aliens have allegedly used vehicles as weapons to escape arrest, a trend federal officials say puts both officers and the public at serious risk.

The Trump administration has repeatedly argued that sanctuary policies and anti-ICE messaging have emboldened criminals to resist arrest violently, forcing agents into split-second, life-or-death decisions during routine enforcement operations.

DHS said the situation remains under review as the investigation continues.
