Fetterman Rejects Democrat Pressure to Smear Republicans as ‘Nazis or Fascists’: ‘I Happen to Believe the Truth’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) pushed back on claims he might bolt from the Democratic Party over his increasing clashes with the Left’s agenda.

Fetterman insisted during an interview Sunday that he intends to remain a Democrat.

However, the senator made clear he won’t follow the Left’s script of labeling Republicans “Nazis or fascists.”

Speaking on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Fetterman dismissed speculation about a party switch but stressed his independence.

“I’m not going to switch,” Fetterman said.

“I’m just going to be an independent voice in the Democratic Party.

“I’m not going to be afraid of people.”

He went further, breaking from a rhetorical tactic often embraced by his colleagues.

“If you want a Democrat that’s going to call people Nazis or fascists or all these kinds of things, well, I am not going to be that guy …

“I happen to believe the truth, regardless if it’s the Republican or the Democratic voice.”

Fetterman has consistently broken with his party over the Israel-Hamas war.

He has reaffirmed his strong support for Israel and criticized U.S. allies who have pressed to recognize a “Palestinian” state.

“When you have human beings held underground, tortured and starved, going on two years… it’s a reward for Hamas,” he argued.

“That’s going to be their narrative.

“They’re going to claim that’s why we did 10/7 [2023], that birthed our nation, and I can’t ever give that to them.”

The Pennsylvania Democrat added that he was “very pleased” with President Donald Trump’s steadfast backing of Israel.

Trump’s effort has been drawing a sharp contrast with European governments that have entertained concessions to the Palestinian Authority.

His remarks also came as Trump rolled out his 21-point plan for peace in Gaza.

The framework has been embraced by Arab leaders and seen as the most serious effort yet to end the conflict.

On domestic issues, Fetterman criticized brinkmanship over spending, blasting both parties as Washington faces another possible partial shutdown ahead of the September 30 deadline.

“Efforts to shut down the government are always wrong,” he said, warning that political posturing was harming both the country’s fiscal health and public trust.

For a senator elected with strong progressive backing, Fetterman’s refusal to parrot the Left’s rhetoric and his willingness to praise Trump mark another break with the Democratic Party’s base.
