Fetterman Slams Kamala Harris for Smearing Trump as a ‘Fascist’

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is breaking with his party yet again, this time calling out former Vice President Kamala Harris for using inflammatory campaign rhetoric that he says alienates millions of American voters.

In a candid interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday, Fetterman said Harris’s decision to label President Donald Trump a “fascist” during the 2024 campaign was a serious mistake.

“When Vice President Harris referred to President Trump as a ‘fascist,’ I knew, absolutely, we lost the plot at that point,” Fetterman told Hannity.

Fetterman, who represents a crucial swing state that Trump won decisively in 2024, argued that Harris’s language insulted not only the president but also the millions of Americans who voted for him.

“If you call the president or someone like that a ‘fascist,’ you are effectively calling the people who are going to vote for him the same thing — or that they support fascism,” he said.

“And that is just not true.”

Harris’ Comments Resurface Amid Left-Wing Protests

Fetterman’s criticism came as renewed scrutiny fell on Harris’ campaign rhetoric following nationwide George Soros-funded “No Kings” protests, where far-left demonstrators called for violence against conservatives.

One protester was caught on video celebrating the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The controversy reignited after a tense exchange on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” earlier this week, when liberal commentator Harry Sisson challenged his conservative co-panelists to prove Harris ever compared Trump to Adolf Hitler.

“When did Kamala Harris call Donald Trump, Hitler?” Sisson demanded.

Conservative analyst Isabel Brown responded with the receipts.

“October of 2024, Kamala Harris said on the campaign trail, ‘Donald Trump vowed to be a dictator on Day One. His former chief of staff said he wanted generals like Hitler’s. Donald Trump openly admired dictators, including Adolf Hitler,’” Brown said.

“That was her final campaign pitch.”

Jack Posobiec, another conservative activist, added that Harris doubled down days later during a CNN town hall, when she was directly asked if she considered Trump a fascist.

“Yes, I do,” Harris said at the time.

A Rare Democrat Willing to Break Ranks

Fetterman’s willingness to speak out against his own party has become something of a trademark.

In recent months, he’s repeatedly criticized Democrat leadership over both rhetoric and policy, including the ongoing government shutdown, now the second-longest in U.S. history.

In early October, Fetterman warned that Democrats were making the same mistake they once condemned Republicans for.

“We shouldn’t be having this conversation,” he said.

“You shouldn’t be shutting our government down.

“When the Republicans were doing it, we rightly criticized them and attacked them for doing that.

“Don’t shut it down. It’s fundamentally wrong.”

Fetterman later joined a small group of Democrats who voted with Republicans to ensure active-duty military personnel and essential federal workers would still be paid during the shutdown.

On Wednesday, the senator reiterated his position on X:

“Shut our government down and America loses,” he wrote.

“Two million Pennsylvanians depend on SNAP to feed their families.

“For me, it’s hungry Americans over party.

“Paying our military over party.

“Paying Capitol Police and federal workers over party.

“I choose country over party.”

Standing Apart from His Party

Fetterman’s latest comments highlight a growing rift between moderate Democrats and the progressive wing led by Harris and her allies.

While Harris has leaned into fiery rhetoric to energize her base, Fetterman has warned that such language alienates working-class voters who feel disrespected by Washington elites.

Harris continues to struggle in the polls amid fallout from her 2024 loss.

Fetterman’s remarks are being viewed by some as a warning shot to Democrats ahead of 2026.

They serve as a reminder that middle America is no longer buying into the party’s combative tone.
