Former NASCAR Driver Chase Pistone Dead at 42

Former NASCAR star Chase Pistone, who followed his grandfather’s legacy into professional racing and later mentored young drivers, has died.

The beloved car racing star was just 42 years old.

His brother, Nick Pistone, announced the news in an emotional message posted to Facebook.

“Well, my young brother and best friend is gone,” Nick Pistone wrote.

“I’m broken-hearted and don’t know if I’ll ever get over this.

“I miss you Chase already and I hope you are you are in a better place.

“I love you and I miss you so much already!!!!!!!”

No cause of death has been publicly released.

Racing Career Across NASCAR Series

Pistone competed across multiple NASCAR ranks during his career.

His career includes the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the ARCA Menards Series.

Pistone made starts in both the Truck and Xfinity Series during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

He built a reputation as a determined competitor on short tracks throughout the Southeast.

In later years, Pistone shifted his focus toward mentoring younger racers.

The work included running Legends and Late Model programs designed to develop the next generation of drivers.

Racing Community Pays Tribute

Legends Nation confirmed Pistone’s death on Monday and reflected on his influence both on and off the track.

“Chase was not only a wheelman in Legends and Late Models, but his Chase Pistone Inc. Legends team was a force to be reckoned with every time they showed up at a track, and they usually walked away with the winner’s trophy,” the organization posted on X.

Following news of his passing, tributes from across the racing world began pouring in.

“Heartbroken to hear about the passing of our friend Chase Pistone,” Brian Murphy of RFK Racing wrote on X.

“He was not only a talented racer but a true mentor who poured his time, knowledge, and passion into the next generation.”

Pistone carried a well-known racing name.

He was the grandson of NASCAR pioneer Tom Pistone, who won two NASCAR Cup Series races in 1959 during the sport’s early years.

His family later asked that the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline be shared following his death.
