A Georgia golf sensation has collapsed and died unexpectedly, according to local officials and family members.
Seventeen-year-old Hadden Kelly was a junior at Dodge County High School.
He was “TPing” a yard while taking part in a homecoming prank with friends in his hometown on Monday morning when he suddenly collapsed, relatives said.
A friend discovered him unresponsive around 9:00 a.m.
Kelly’s great-uncle, Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith, confirmed the teen was rushed to a nearby hospital.
However, the teen was later pronounced dead.
The cause of death is still “unknown,” pending autopsy results, officials noted.
The tragedy occurred during Dodge County’s homecoming week.
Kelly was regarded as one of the school’s top athletes and a rising golf talent preparing to compete in the state tournament.
School and Community Respond
In a Facebook post, Dodge County High School announced the student-athlete’s passing.
“There are no words to express the sadness that our DCHS family feels for the loss of junior Hadden Kelly,” the statement read.
“Please join us in prayer for his family, friends, and our DCHS Family.
“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
The school’s golf team also posted a tribute, calling Kelly their “top performing golfer.”
The golfing prodigy was described as a leader whose character shone both on and off the course.
“He could have left as most of the time he finished first against the competition,” the post read.
“It wasn’t about him. He stayed to support his team.
“What a witness to his character!
“We love Hadden, and we love his family.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
Coroner Joe Smith added that Kelly was a rising star who had the potential to compete professionally one day.
Promising Career Cut Short
Kelly had already made a name for himself on the state circuit.
According to the Georgia State Golf Association, he placed fifth at the Regional Qualifier at Spring Hill in June and had two top-10 finishes in his 2025 tournament appearances.
“He was one of the most talented athletes in Dodge County,” Smith said, noting his work ethic and dedication to his teammates.
The sudden death of the teen athlete has left the tight-knit Dodge County community reeling.
Tributes are pouring in as friends and family await answers about what caused his sudden death.
