Hollywood actress Glenn Close has accused President Donald Trump of overseeing what she describes as a collapse of American democracy.
Weighing in on the leftist anti-ICE violence in Minnesota, Close said she feels “outraged and sickened” by “what is happening under the Trump regime.”
Close made the remarks in a video posted to social media Sunday following the fatal shooting of armed anti-ICE activist Alex Pretti during an altercation with U.S. Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis.
“I have watched our democracy being systematically disemboweled and torn apart along with the institutions, which in the near past, though never perfect, have stabilized our society and supported the American people,” Close said.
“I am outraged and sickened by what is happening under the Trump regime.
“The cruelty, inhumanity, and arrogance, the voracious corruption, the cowardice, the sickening hypocrisy, the blatant manipulation of facts, and now, the cold-blooded murder of American citizens,” she added.

The incident involving Pretti remains under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.
Federal officials have said agents were conducting an immigration enforcement operation when the confrontation occurred.
Celebrities Escalate Rhetoric Against ICE
Close’s comments are the latest in a wave of denunciations from Hollywood figures targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Trump administration.
In an interview with Deadline, Natalie Portman described the administration as “absolutely horrific” in remarks criticizing federal immigration enforcement.
“What they’re doing is really the worst of the worst of humanity,” Portman said.
“Then you also have the best of the best of humanity, for the way people are showing up for each other, in community, and Americans coming out to support each other, protect each other, and fight against injustice.”
“I could not be prouder to be American right now, by the way the Americans are acting, and I couldn’t be sadder to be American right now by the way that the government is acting,” she added.

Actress Olivia Wilde also weighed in during an interview with Variety at the Sundance Film Festival, saying she was “appalled and sickened” by ICE.
“We can’t go another day just sort of accepting this as our new norm,” Wilde said.
“It’s outrageous. People are being murdered.
“And, I don’t want to normalize seeing people being murdered on the internet.
“On film. It’s hideous,” she continued.
“And so if we can do anything out here to support the movement to cast ICE out, to delegitimize this unbelievably criminal organization, then that’s what we should be doing.”
The comments come as the Trump administration continues to defend its immigration enforcement operations, arguing that federal agents are enforcing existing law amid rising hostility, protests, and violent confrontations targeting ICE and Border Patrol personnel.
