GOP Congressman Reveals Federal Plan to Fight ‘George Soros Groups’ Funding Antifa

Republican Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has revealed that Congress and federal law enforcement are preparing what he described as a “two-front fight” against organizations accused of funding Antifa-linked activity.

The congressman specifically cited organizations run and funded by billionaire George Soros and his radical family.

Gill’s remarks follow comments by FBI Director Kash Patel.

As Slay News reported, Bongino said on “The Dan Bongino Show” that the bureau has uncovered significant funding streams tied to Antifa and is conducting a financial investigation that could lead to new enforcement actions.

Appearing on “The Evening Edit,” Gill said lawmakers intend to hold hearings examining whether nonprofit organizations are using tax-exempt status to channel money into political violence.

Host Elizabeth MacDonald asked:

“Will you guys basically point out George Soros’ groups?

“There’s a bunch of that big network that is funding these Antifa riots.

“Will you name names, try to call them in, and do you think that the Justice Department, and rather the Treasury Department, with the IRS, will they audit these groups and revoke their tax-free status?”

Gill responded:

“Yes, absolutely.

“That is the goal here.

“The goal is if these organizations are getting tax-free benefits and they are engaged in political activity illegally, that status needs to be revoked.

“And we need to do that in a very clear and public way.

“The purpose of these hearings is to get the information so that we can make that determination.

“But secondly, I think that if you have these organizations that are funding illegal activity in the United States, people need to go to jail for that.”

Financial Probe Expands

FBI Director Kash Patel said agents are “following the money” and examining whether nonprofit groups with tax-exempt status are involved in funding violence tied to Antifa-linked protests.

Gill said the strategy involves targeting both unlawful political coordination and direct financial support for criminal conduct.

“That is a much broader criminal conspiracy that needs to be dealt with,” Gill said.

“So I do think this is a two-front fight for us.

“It is going after organizations that are engaged in illegal political activity, but also going after organizations that are funding illegal activity in general, these riots, and those people need to be held accountable as well.”

Funding Networks Under Scrutiny

Grant records show that the Headwaters Foundation for Justice awarded more than $3.3 million to activist groups involved in organizing anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests in Minneapolis.

Public filings indicate funds flowed to organizations that participated in those demonstrations.

The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, has also distributed tens of millions of dollars to progressive advocacy groups nationwide.

Grant data shows a $2 million contribution to the Sunrise Movement, which promoted the Stop Cop City/Defend the Atlanta Forest coalition, a movement that has drawn scrutiny from law enforcement over alleged ties to anarchist extremism associated with Antifa-linked activism.

Lawmakers say upcoming hearings will seek to clarify whether any of these financial flows cross legal lines.

Potential IRS and DOJ Action

Gill signaled that coordination with the Justice Department and the Treasury Department, including the IRS, could follow congressional hearings if evidence shows nonprofits violated federal law.

The central question, he said, is whether tax-exempt organizations are engaging in prohibited political activity or funding criminal conduct.

If so, Gill indicated that revocation of tax-exempt status and potential criminal prosecutions would be on the table.

As federal investigators continue reviewing funding streams, the political and legal battle over alleged Antifa financing appears poised to intensify.
