In a bold and unapologetic move that signaled a sharp return to American strength and common sense, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared that the U.S. military is “restoring the Warrior Ethos.”
Hegseth made it clear during a Capitol Hill hearing this week that the days of leftist social experiments in the U.S. armed forces are over.
“DEI is dead,” Hegseth announced, unequivocally burying the Biden-era obsession with “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”
Many say the Marxism-rooted divisive framework weakened morale, eroded standards, and prioritized identity politics over military readiness.
Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, Hegseth laid out a simple but powerful vision for the future of America’s armed forces: restore the Warrior Ethos and bring the focus back to what matters — strength, discipline, and victory.
“Restoring the Warrior Ethos” is the top priority, he declared.
For those who’ve forgotten, the Warrior Ethos from the Soldier’s Creed reads:
“I will always place the mission first.
“I will never accept defeat. I will never quit.
“I will never leave a fallen comrade.”
This isn’t just rhetoric. It’s a course correction.
“President Trump has charged me with focusing on war-fighting, lethality, meritocracy, standards, and readiness,” Hegseth explained.
“That’s exactly what we’re doing.”
No more confusing priorities.
No more bureaucratic distractions.
No more pandering to fringe ideologies.
“We are focused on what is important,” Hegseth said.
“War-fighting and warriors.
“We’ve set standards that are high, equal, and unwavering.
“DEI is dead. We replaced it with a colorblind, gender-neutral, merit-based approach.”
It’s a message that clearly resonates.
According to Hegseth, recruitment numbers have surged in recent weeks — something that should give every American hope.
When the military gets back to basics, young patriots step up to serve.
During the hearing, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) asked a tongue-in-cheek question that highlighted the absurdity of the previous administration’s priorities: had there been complaints about the military no longer pushing preferred pronouns?
“Is that not a priority for the folks that are now signing up for our military?” he asked.
Hegseth didn’t miss a beat:
“Well, sir, if they wanted to get a woke indoctrination, they could just go to college.
“Instead, they are joining the military, where we are focused on basics.
“We know men are men and women are women.”
No more political games, Hegseth promised.
No more leftist ideology turning our armed forces into a social laboratory.
“Standards will be high,” Hegseth added, “and we’re getting rid of the distractions, the ideologies, the politicization that was in our ranks so that soldiers, men and women, can do their jobs on behalf of the nation.”

At long last, America’s military is being returned to the warriors, and the message is clear: under Trump, the mission comes first again.
