Hollywood Star Halle Berry Sounds Alarm on Gavin Newsom: ‘Should Not Be Our Next President’

Hollywood A-lister Halle Berry delivered a stunning and unexpected rebuke of California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, using the national stage of the DealBook Summit to accuse the Democrat governor of ignoring women’s needs and warning the public that he should never become President of the United States.

Berry appeared on a panel discussing the cultural and societal treatment of women.

However, she abruptly shifted from Hollywood commentary to a direct, personal condemnation of Newsom’s record.

Notably, Newsom was in the audience during Berry’s epic takedown.

Berry Blasts Newsom for Vetoing Women’s Health Bill — Twice

The actress condemned Newsom’s repeated vetoes of AB 432, a bill designed to expand menopause care across California.

The legislation, authored by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, would have modernized treatment standards, required medical providers to undergo menopause training, and ensured health plans offered appropriate recommendations for care.

Supporters said the bill addressed a long-neglected issue affecting tens of millions of American women.

But Newsom killed the bill two years in a row, even as he attempts to build a national brand and position himself for a potential 2028 presidential run.

Berry told the audience:

“But the opposite of that, back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill.

“Not one, but two years in a row.”

She continued:

“But that’s okay, because he’s not going to be governor forever.

“And with the way he’s overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying.”

Berry: Women Need to Fight and Men Should Stand With Them

The Hollywood actress did not stop at criticizing Newsom.

She called for a national mobilization on behalf of women’s health and insisted that both women and men must join the effort.

“I need every woman in this country to fight with me,” she said.

“But the truth is, the fight isn’t just for women.

“For us women, we need men too.

“We need all of the leaders, every single one of you in this room. This fight needs you.”

Awkward Moment: Newsom Was in the Room

Adding to the impact was the fact that Newsom was in attendance at the summit when Berry delivered the criticism.

It was a rare moment of a Hollywood figure directly confronting a powerful Democrat governor, not behind closed doors, but publicly, on a national stage.

Berry’s comments cut directly against Newsom’s efforts to style himself as a candidate who champions women’s rights and progressive causes.

Instead, she painted him as a politician out of touch with half the population.

Newsom Still Flirting with a Presidential Run

The timing is notable.

In October, Newsom admitted he is “giving serious thought” to a White House run, fueling speculation that he sees himself as the Democratic Party’s future standard-bearer.

Berry’s message at the summit was unmistakable as she warned the American people that Newsom’s actions don’t match his rhetoric, and Democrats shouldn’t reward that with the presidency.
