A group of hundreds of Minnesota state government employees has come forward to sound the alarm about Governor Tim Walz, failed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s 2024 running mate.
The group, which represents more than 480 employees inside the Minnesota Department of Human Services, is calling out former Vice President Harris and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
The Minnesota Department of Human Services Employees (MDHSE) is saying the group repeatedly warned national Democrats about Gov. Walz long before he became Harris’s running mate.
In a series of posts on X, the official MDHSE account accused Walz of presiding over widespread fraud, retaliating against whistleblowers, and ignoring misconduct across state agencies.
“We tried our best to keep the public informed as our tweets are public,” the group posted
“Maybe Kamala Harris turned a blind eye to fraud like her running mate?”
“Over the years, our messages have not changed,” MDHSE added.
“We need fraud to stop in Minnesota and good governance to be restored.”
Harris selected Walz as her vice-presidential pick in August 2024, despite what whistleblowers say were repeated attempts to alert her campaign to the Minnesota governor’s record.
In a September 2024 post replying directly to Harris, the group warned that Walz had “caused incredible harm to our state & agencies, [and] retaliated against whistleblowers against fraud.”
Massive Fraud Scandals Engulf State Agencies Under Walz
Minnesota continues to face one of the largest public fraud scandals in U.S. history as federal prosecutors unravel multiple schemes operating inside Walz’s state bureaucracy.
The DOJ recently announced its 78th defendant in the Feeding Our Future scandal, a pandemic-era child nutrition grift involving more than $300 million in stolen federal funds and over 50 convictions so far.
Many of those charged come from Minnesota’s Somali community, where authorities say organized fraud rings created fake companies to bill taxpayers for services that were never provided.
According to The New York Times, what initially appeared to be an isolated pandemic fraud case has expanded into a much broader corruption crisis that has become a national concern.
State Rep. Marion Rarick (R-MN) revealed that she began investigating the fraud after joining the Legislature’s Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee.
She said she personally met with the whistleblowers behind the DHS employees’ account and has kept in frequent contact.
State Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-MN) praised the group on social media, calling the whistleblowers “heroes.”
“We have been meeting with them for months, and they are trying to clean up state gov’t after @Tim_Walz [‘s] utter failure to hold his agencies accountable,” Robbins wrote.
Whistleblowers Say the DNC Was Warned But Ignored Them
The state employees’ account says they contacted Harris and the national party multiple times before Walz’s selection as running mate and were ignored.
Their posts suggest Harris and the DNC were aware of widespread allegations of waste, fraud, and retaliation inside Minnesota’s agencies, yet pushed ahead with Walz anyway.
The employees say their goal has remained the same and sought to expose the fraud and restore basic good governance inside Minnesota’s state agencies.
Whether national Democrats respond now that Walz faces intensified scrutiny remains to be seen.
