ICE Arrests Illegal Alien for Crimes Against Children After He Was Set Free by Rhode Island Police

An illegal alien from Guatemala has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents for committing horrific crimes against children.

Josue Santiago Perez Gomez was arrested by ICE agents after being released by Rhode Island authorities.

He was set free by police despite facing serious child sex crime charges and having an active ICE detainer.

Perez Gomez, who is living in the U.S. illegally, was charged with patronizing a minor for commercial sexual activity, indecent solicitation of a child, and procurement of sexual conduct for a fee after his arrest by Portsmouth Police on July 12.

ICE Boston immediately filed an immigration detainer against the dangerous child predator.

However, despite the severity of the crimes, local authorities released him hours later, without honoring the detainer, according to ICE.

ICE agents had already apprehended Perez Gomez earlier that day on immigration violation charges.

They served him with a notice to appear before an immigration judge.

However, Rhode Island authorities failed to honor the detainer.

This situation raises serious concerns about local law enforcement’s disregard for public safety.

Patricia Hyde, acting field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, condemned the release.

“Josue Santiago Perez Gomez stands accused of some disgusting and disturbing crimes and represents a clear threat to the children of our Rhode Island communities,” Hyde said in a statement.

She further emphasized the absurdity of arresting a dangerous individual only for local authorities to release him, questioning:

“What is the point of arresting him at all?”

Thanks to ICE’s swift action, Perez Gomez was taken into custody.

He will now remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.

His illegal entry into the U.S. remains unclear, but authorities confirm he was not inspected, admitted, or paroled by a U.S. immigration official.

This case highlights the ongoing concerns about “sanctuary” policies that allow criminal aliens, particularly those accused of heinous crimes, to remain on the streets, endangering communities.
