Acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Todd Lyons is speaking out forcefully against Democrat politicians who, he says, are putting federal agents at risk with reckless rhetoric.
In a video message, Lyons directly called out Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, warning:
“Stop putting my people in danger.”

Lyons accused both Democrats of stirring outrage and “hurting” law enforcement with “ridiculous rhetoric and inflammatory comments.”
Wu recently accused ICE of behaving like “secret police,” claiming:
“People are terrified for their lives… folks getting snatched off the street by secret police, who are wearing masks … who can offer no justification for why certain people are being taken and then … detained.”
In response, U.S. Attorney Leah Foley explained the use of masks:
“Federal agents in marked jackets and vests are masking their faces because people like Mayor Wu have created false narratives about their mission.
“Federal agents and their children are being threatened, doxxed, and assaulted — that is why they must hide their faces.”
Wu then made a stunning comparison, implying masked ICE agents resemble neo-Nazi group NSC-131:
“I don’t know of any police department that routinely wears masks… NSC-131 routinely wears masks.”
When asked directly if she was comparing ICE to neo-Nazis, Wu dodged, saying:
“What I said is that Boston police, and no police department that I know of at the local level, routinely wear masks.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) swiftly condemned her remarks:
“Mayor Wu comparing ICE agents to neo-Nazis is SICKENING…
“Attacks and demonization of our brave law enforcement is WRONG.
“ICE officers are now facing a 413% increase in assaults.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also came under fire after pledging to identify masked ICE agents:
“All ICE agents who perpetrate ‘aggressive overreach’ and attempt to conceal their identities from the American people will be identified — no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes.”
Jeffries was responding to two separate incidents involving Democrats.
In one, Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) claimed she was “shoved” by ICE.
However, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced she was charged under 18 U.S.C. § 111(a)(1) for “assaulting, impeding, and interfering with law enforcement.”
In another incident, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) alleged that DHS agents handcuffed one of his staffers during a protest at his Manhattan office.
DHS clarified:
“Federal Protective Service officers… identified themselves and explained their intent to conduct a security check… one individual became verbally confrontational and physically blocked access…
“All were released without further incident.”
As ICE agents face rising assaults and public hostility, Lyons is asking for one thing from elected officials: basic respect for law enforcement.
