Ilhan Omar Demands Gun Ban to ‘Get Rid of Assault Weapons’ After ‘Brainwashed’ Transgender Murdered Children

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called for a sweeping assault weapons ban following the deadly shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.

Omar made the call on Sunday during CNN’s “State of the Union.”

However, the congresswoman sought to blame firearms for the tragedy, even as new revelations from the gunman’s own writings point to deeper issues.

“It is important for us to make sure that we are offering a slew of solutions,” Omar told anchor Brianna Keilar.

“One is to make sure that we are getting rid of assault weapons in our community.”

Federal authorities confirmed that the suspected shooter, Robert “Robin” Westman, killed two children and injured 17 others during Wednesday morning Mass at Annunciation Catholic School.

Police confirmed that Westman also died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Westman was a 23-year-old male who claimed to be a “transgender woman.”

However, it now appears that societal pressure for him to maintain this phony persona may have played a role in the massacre.

In the aftermath, disturbing details have emerged from the gunman’s personal writings, as Slay News reported.

According to a journal translated and reported by the New York Post, Westman confessed:

“I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brainwashed myself.”

In another entry, he admitted:

“I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”

Investigators also revealed that Westman scrawled political and anti-religious messages on his weapons, including one calling for the assassination of President Donald Trump.

Omar, however, downplayed the shooter’s identity struggles and radical views.

Instead, she argued that Congress must act to strip law-abiding American citizens of their God-given Second Amendment rights.

She said her youngest child now fears an assailant entering her school and “taking her life or the life of her friends and classmates.”

When pressed by Keilar about whether a so-called “assault weapons” ban is realistic, Omar insisted the tragedy should transcend partisan divides.

Notably, Democrats failed to pass one even under former President Barack Obama with a filibuster-proof Senate majority.

Omar also pushed back against comments by White House adviser Sebastian Gorka.

Gotka earlier highlighted the shooter’s transgender identity.

She called his remarks “really unfortunate,” accusing him of using the fact as a distraction.

“At one moment, he talks about the fact that the evil, murderous person who took two angels from us and harmed our community for a really long time,” Omar said.

“He talked about their transgenderness, and then he says that shouldn’t really matter.”

The congresswoman further accused the Department of Homeland Security of stripping resources from communities that could help prevent such tragedies.

She claimed federal officials were instead deflecting blame toward state governments.
