Early Monday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted a vessel attempting to breach a maritime security zone off Gaza’s coast.
The boat, dubbed the Madleen, was carrying a group of self-described “activists” — including Swedish climate celebrity Greta Thunberg and European Parliament member Rima Hassa.
Israel had warned in advance it would block unauthorized vessels, especially those seen as engaging in political spectacle under the guise of humanitarian aid.
The so-called flotilla was organized to “raise awareness.”
However, the IDF reported that the boat carried less aid than a single delivery truck.
Much of the food on board had also already been consumed by the passengers, the IDF revealed.
“The show is over,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated bluntly, calling it what many saw it as: a PR stunt, not a serious relief mission.
The Israeli Navy released video footage showing an officer calmly informing the boat’s crew that the waters off Hamas-controlled Gaza are closed for security reasons.
Any legitimate aid must go through approved humanitarian channels, Thunberg and her friends were told.
All passengers were detained without incident, provided food and water, and rerouted to an Israeli port. According to officials, the activists were “safe and unharmed.”
Notably, Defense Minister Israel Katz has directed that participants of the flotilla be shown footage from the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.
Katz sought to show the footage to the activist to highlight the serious national security threats Israel faces.
However, this context is routinely omitted by international media and activist groups.
Thunberg was widely criticized on social media after she shared a pre-recorded video claiming she had been “kidnapped” by Israel.
However, she recorded the video message shortly before entering the zone that Israel’s military had warned them to stay away from.

Imagine pre-recording a video claiming you were “kidnapped" by Israel- then going ahead and doing the exact thing that gets you legally detained. Nice choreography.
You weren't kidnapped, Greta.
You trespassed into an active war zone.
You were warned. Repeatedly.And you went… pic.twitter.com/LNJ4aEzx4g

Yet, video shows IDF troops handing out bread and water to the activists after boarding the vessel.

The IDF is literally offering water and sandwiches to Greta's crew.
Yet Greta's PR team is going nuts, claiming they were "kidnapped."
Do you see how ridiculous their lies are?pic.twitter.com/8uWgrxUSn6

While the corporate media focused on celebrity names and virtue signaling, Israeli officials emphasized that real humanitarian aid continues to flow into Gaza through proper checkpoints.
The crisis should not be manipulated with staged political theater.
