Veteran Democrat strategist James Carville has dodged speculation about Hunter Biden’s future as a 2028 presidential contender.
The former Bill Clinton advisor avoided questions about the issue after the younger Biden’s scathing remarks against the Democratic Party and Carville himself.
During a three-hour interview released earlier this week, Hunter Biden took aim at his father’s allies.
He accused top Democrats of failing to support Joe Biden in the 2024 election.
He also bashed Carville, declaring that he “hasn’t run a race in forty f**kin’ years.”
Carville, however, responded uncharacteristically calmly during a Thursday appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
When asked about the potential for Hunter Biden to run for president, Carville didn’t bite.
Instead, he provided some light jabs at the younger Biden’s emotions.
“I don’t take any offense at what Hunter said about me,” Carville told Watters.
“I mean, this guy’s emotional.
“He’s hurt for his daddy.
“I completely understand that.”
Carville then sidestepped questions about Hunter Biden’s presidential prospects.
The subject of Hunter Biden running for president was recently brought up by podcaster Joe Rogan.
Rogan recently speculated that Hunter Biden could possibly run in 2028, even going as far as to claim, “He could be president… no bulls**t.”
The podcaster noted that after all of his struggles with addiction, Hunter Biden was “smarter than his dad when his dad was young.”
Carville did not directly engage in the conversation about Hunter Biden’s potential political future, however.
Instead, he took the opportunity to discuss the broader direction of the Democratic Party.
Watters, in turn, asked Carville who he thought had the political chops to take the Democrat nomination in 2028.
Carville’s answer was revealing.
“I don’t care about gender, but I want somebody that can talk definitively and clearly,” Carville stated, appearing to mock both Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
A seasoned strategist who worked on Bill Clinton’s successful 1992 campaign, Carville went on to elaborate on what he believes cost Democrats the 2024 election.
“I think the country wanted change in 2024 and Harris, for whatever reason, refused to say she would change the direction of Biden,” Carville continued.
“I think that cost the election.”
WATCH:
Carville’s comments add fuel to the growing speculation about the lack of a strong contender from the Democrats to lead the party in 2028.
It comes as the party grapples with a lack of unity, leadership, and clear direction.
The reference to Harris only underscores the increasing doubts about the Democrat establishment’s ability to inspire confidence in the next election cycle.
With Carville’s remarks, the conversation about Hunter Biden’s possible political future remains clouded in uncertainty, especially as the party faces deep internal rifts and mounting pressure ahead of the looming 2026 midterms.
