James Comer Praises Kash Patel for FBI Raid on John Bolton’s Home: ‘Holding Deep State Accountable’

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has praised FBI Director Kash Patel and other top Trump administration officials for following through on their promises to dismantle the entrenched “deep state.”

Comer responded Friday as federal agents executed raids on former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s home and office.

“I don’t know what John Bolton did,” Comer told Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom.”

“Obviously, he deserves due process.

“But I do believe that Kash Patel and [Attorney General] Pam Bondi and [CIA Director] John Ratcliffe and [Director of National Intelligence] Tulsi Gabbard are serious about holding the deep state accountable for all the mistakes and all the abuses of power that we’ve witnessed from the deep state over the past decades.”

Comer pointed directly to Patel’s early-morning post on X, in which the FBI director wrote:

“NO ONE is above the law.”

“I think today’s a positive day,” Comer added.

“We’ll see what Bolton had in his possession.”

Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR), chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, also weighed in.

Crawford called the news “incredibly troubling” while reiterating that “all accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

He said he was grateful for the “professionalism” of Patel and Bondi, noting that his committee was monitoring the situation closely.

A spokesperson for the intelligence committee confirmed that the FBI gave Crawford and ranking member Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) prior notice of the raid.

Himes’s office has not issued a statement.

Federal agents reportedly entered Bolton’s Maryland home in the early hours of Friday.

They were later seen at his Washington, D.C., office.

Sources told Fox News the raid was tied to potential classified documents still in Bolton’s possession.

Bolton served as national security advisor to President Donald Trump from 2018 until September 2019.

Before that, he held posts under the George W. Bush administration, including ambassador to the United Nations.

But since leaving the Trump administration, Bolton has become one of the president’s fiercest Republican critics, particularly on foreign policy.

In late 2024, he went so far as to publicly declare that he would not vote for Trump in the general election.

Instead, Bolton said he would be writing in former Vice President Dick Cheney’s name.

The raid comes as the Trump administration continues to fulfill promises to root out corruption and hold Washington’s most entrenched power brokers accountable.

Comer and other Republicans say Friday’s developments underscore that the days of the deep state operating with impunity are ending.
