Jasmine Crockett Slams White Lawmakers Who Voted to Honor Charlie Kirk: He ‘Specifically Targeted People of Color’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) defended her decision to vote against a House resolution honoring Charlie Kirk by promoting lies about the rhetoric of the slain Turning Point USA founder.

As Slay News reported, dozens of Democrats voted against the resolution, which also condemns political violence of any kind.

Crockett complained that she was upset that only two “Caucasians” joined her in opposition.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, Crockett said:

“One of the things I do want to point out that’s not been laid out that honestly hurts my heart is when I saw the no votes, there were only two Caucasians.

“For the most part, the only people that voted no were people of color because the rhetoric that Charlie Kirk continuously put out there was rhetoric that specifically targeted people of color.”

Despite the statement about Kirk’s supposed rhetoric being completely fabricated, CNN anchor Dana Bash gave Crockett a free pass on the false claims.

The House passed the resolution Friday, with all 215 Republicans and 95 Democrats supporting the measure.

Fifty-eight Democrats, mostly members of the Congressional Black Caucus, voted against it.

38 Democrats voted present and 22 did not vote at all.

The only white Democrats who opposed the measure were Reps. Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Mike Quigley (D-IL).

The resolution came nine days after Kirk, 31, was gunned down during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10.

Kirk, a father of two, was shot fatally in the neck while fielding a question about transgender mass shooters.

Prosecutors say 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was romantically linked to a male claiming to be transgender.

He confessed to the murder in text messages to his transgender boyfriend that were later released by the FBI.

Crockett told CNN she refused to support the resolution because of Kirk’s past criticisms of her.

“It is unfortunate that even our colleagues could not see how harmful his rhetoric was specifically to us,” Crockett said.

“And I can tell you that a month prior to him passing away, he had actually gotten out on his podcast.

“I wasn’t aware of this at the time, but he got out there, and he was talking negatively about me directly.

“So if there was any way that I was gonna honor somebody who decided that they were just gonna negatively talk about me.”

Crockett is no stranger to inflammatory remarks herself.

She has previously branded Trump supporters as “the most unpatriotic people” in the country and defended comparisons of President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

“And to be clear, you can wave all the flags you want to, but I am telling you right now that the most unpatriotic people that we have in this country are MAGA and this president,” she said.

“We are the real patriots.

“And it is time for us to take our flag back and show people what America is about.”

The Texas Democrat’s vote against honoring Kirk underscores the deep partisan divide surrounding the conservative leader’s assassination, even as bipartisan majorities in both chambers of Congress have moved to condemn political violence.
