Jasmine Crockett Town Hall: ‘Republicans Want Poor People to Die as Quickly as Humanly Possible’

During a Democrat town hall event, radical Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) helped to amplify wild, fabricated claims about Republicans.

During the Monday night town hall, hosted by former CNN anchor Jim Acosta, Crockett made waves by echoing one of the most inflammatory claims in recent memory: that “Republicans want poor people to die as quickly as humanly possible.”

Crockett, touted by progressives as a rising Democrat star, shared the stage with far-left actress Rosie O’Donnell, CNN contributor and former Capitol police officer Michael Fanone, and ex-Trump official Olivia Troye.

However, it was Crockett’s agreement with a sweeping indictment of the GOP that quickly grabbed national attention.

During the discussion, Acosta referenced a comment from Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) at a recent Medicaid town hall.

When confronted by a protester yelling “People will die!” over benefit reforms, Ernst had responded, “We all are going to die.”

Acosta responded at his panel:

“I’m thinking to myself, isn’t the point of healthcare to postpone that as long as possible… like, we don’t want that to happen, isn’t that the point?”

Fanone, who gained notoriety following the Jan. 6 protests and now works as a CNN analyst, escalated the rhetoric.

“Republicans want poor people to die as quickly as humanly possible,” he said.

I agree,” Crockett replied.

“I don’t think that is a glitch, but that’s actually part of the design.”

The crowd cheered as Crockett criticized Ernst for her now-viral comment:

“The idea that you’ve got someone who has the audacity to say to people that sent her into D.C. to work on their behalf that you’re going to die…

“I think we all know that, but the reality is that you’ve decided that you want to be a gravedigger, and I don’t think that is who they elected you to be.

“They elected you to actually breathe life into it.”

In response, a spokesperson for Sen. Ernst slammed Crockett’s remarks as blatant “fearmongering.”

“While Democrats fearmonger against strengthening the integrity of Medicaid, Sen. Ernst is focused on improving the lives of all Iowans.

“There’s only two certainties in life: death and taxes, and she’s working to ease the burden of both.”

Ernst had originally explained her position at the town hall, stating that Medicaid reforms are meant to remove ineligible participants, such as illegal aliens, able-bodied individuals refusing to work, and people enrolled in multiple states, to preserve resources for the truly needy.

This is not the first time Crockett has drawn fire for inflammatory rhetoric.

She’s made headlines before for:

Calling Texas Governor Greg Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels,” a dig at his wheelchair use.

She later walked back the insult, dismissing backlash as a “distraction.”

Crockett also said she hoped Elon Musk would be “taken down” on her birthday, which she later clarified was “nonviolent resistance.”

Trademarking the phrase “bleach blonde, bad built, butch body” after a clash with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a House hearing.

Crockett was also challenged to a fight by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) after telling her, “child, listen,” during a tense Oversight Committee exchange.

Now, Crockett is reportedly eyeing a bid to lead the powerful House Oversight Committee, should the Democrats retake the chamber next year.

She has promised that she would use the position to launch investigations into President Donald Trump, his family, and the executive branch.

But with a growing list of partisan barbs and a record of escalating rhetoric, critics question whether her approach is aimed at governing or grandstanding.

Crockett’s town hall remarks signal a Democratic Party increasingly comfortable using dehumanizing language about its opponents, all while accusing the Right of divisive extremism.

Whether voters embrace or reject this strategy could shape the political landscape heading into 2026.
