Jasmine Crockett Claims Trump's USAID Cuts Will Push Terrorists to 'Fly Planes into Buildings in the United States'

Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX) is under fire after suggesting that defunding the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) could lead to another 9/11-style terrorist attack.

Critics argue that Crockett’s claim is not only baseless, but another example of the Democrats’ fearmongering to protect a bloated, left-wing foreign aid slush fund.

During a podcast appearance Thursday with Jamal Bryant on “Let’s Be Clear,” Crockett defended USAID.

The same federal agency has spent taxpayer dollars on projects like Peruvian transgender comic books and a transgender clinic in Vietnam.

President Donald Trump froze funding to the agency in January as part of his ongoing efforts to root out corruption and waste in Washington.

Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously led by Elon Musk, has been working to dismantle the agency.

But Crockett wasn’t interested in accountability.

Instead, she warned that cutting USAID funding could somehow cause another catastrophic terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

However, the notoriously corrupt agency does not play a role in national security.

“One of the reasons people haven’t been flying planes into buildings in the United States is because of our soft power,” Crockett claimed.

“It’s because of the diplomacy that we were doing…

“That was helping to keep us safe here.”

Critics blasted the remarks as outrageous and offensive.

The implication that sending taxpayer money overseas to pay for gender ideology programs somehow keeps Americans safe struck many as a stunning distortion of reality.

Crockett continued to defend the agency by downplaying its cost:

“USAID is literally not even 1% of our budget,” she said, accusing Republicans of distracting voters by attacking “pennies” while ignoring what she claimed was “the money that’s going to Elon.”

But under Trump’s “America First” approach, taxpayer dollars were redirected to U.S. communities instead of foreign governments or progressive global NGOs.

By contrast, USAID funding under Democrat leadership has funneled millions into left-wing causes worldwide, often with no oversight and zero benefit to American citizens.

Crockett didn’t stop there.

She railed against ICE funding and falsely claimed that immigration agents were receiving $42,000 bonuses under the new “Big Beautiful Bill” signed into law by President Trump on July 4.

In reality, the law allocates funding over several years to recruit 10,000 new officers, not to hand out massive checks to existing agents.

“They decided that every ICE agent should be entitled to at least a $42,000 bonus while these fools are going out here dragging people,” she ranted.

“Then they gonna tell people ‘No, we’re going to take your health care. No, we’re going to take food away from you.'”

Crockett also criticized defense spending, accusing Trump and Musk of inflating the military budget, ignoring the fact that national security and border enforcement remain top priorities for the vast majority of Americans.

“If you allow them to cherry-pick you, then, at the end of the day, something that you do care about… is going to be under attack,” she warned, in what many saw as another veiled attack on conservative values.

Analysts were quick to point out that USAID accounted for just 0.3% of total federal spending in FY 2024.

Claims that its funding prevents terrorist attacks are unsupported by any evidence.

Trump supporters and conservative watchdogs say Crockett’s remarks reveal the true priorities of the modern Democrat Party: defending corrupt globalist institutions, fearmongering to keep taxpayer dollars flowing overseas, and smearing patriotic efforts to rein in Washington’s bloated bureaucracy.

Judging by her comments, Crockett seems more concerned about preserving foreign funding for radical activist groups than securing America’s borders or protecting struggling U.S. families.
