Vice President JD Vance is going viral on social media after posting a Halloween video poking fun at himself and an Internet meme that’s followed him for months.
In a TikTok clip filmed at the Naval Observatory residence, Vance opens the door wearing a curly brown wig.
The costume is a nod to the “fat JD with curly hair” meme that exploded earlier this year.
“Happy Halloween, kids … remember, say thank you!” Vance says with a grin, before spinning under purple lights as the “Twilight Zone” theme plays in the background.

The lighthearted video quickly went viral, racking up more than 14 million views and over 250,000 likes within hours across TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook.
It’s a staggering reach for any political post, let alone one from the vice president.
From Meme to Moment
The meme originated after a February exchange between Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.
Critics online exaggerated a still image of Vance, adding wild curly hair and mocking captions like, “you didn’t say please” or “you didn’t say thank you.”
Instead of ignoring it, Vance leaned in.

Earlier this week, the White House X account joined the fun by posting a fake “costume package” graphic of several political figures, including a “JD Vance Costume” that humorously “does not include the fat JD curly hair.”
Vance’s Halloween post, complete with a wig and a deadpan delivery, finished the joke.
Internet Reaction: ‘The Best VP Ever’
Within hours, Vance’s post was trending nationally, with screenshots and remixes flooding social media.
“The best VP ever,” one user wrote.
“JD just won 2028,” another added.
Even Elon Musk joined in, replying with a laughing emoji.
Some critics, too, gave credit.
One commenter on X admitted, “he did the meme lol.”
The Trump–Vance Digital Playbook
For a White House that thrives on viral communication, Vance’s self-deprecating humor fits perfectly into President Donald Trump’s digital strategy, which often blends pop culture, meme humor, and sharp political messaging to dominate online conversations.
As Vance’s clip spread across platforms, it became clear that the vice president had managed something rare in modern politics, turning ridicule into relatability.
A Viral Win
By Friday night, the Halloween video was still climbing past 14 million views, with countless user-made edits keeping the trend alive.
But for now, JD Vance has done what few politicians ever pull off by transforming an Internet meme into a personal win and reminding America that, at least on Halloween, even the vice president can take a joke.
