Liberal late-night host Jimmy Kimmel confirmed he has obtained Italian citizenship and is threatening to leave America in protest of President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Kimmel used the revelation to take more shots at Trump’s leadership in his second term.
He made the admission while appearing on fellow comedian Sarah Silverman’s podcast.
The two spent part of the conversation speculating about Americans “fleeing” the country now that Trump is back in the White House.
“A lot of people I know are thinking about where are they going to get citizenship?” Silverman said.
“I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel replied.
“You do? Oh, that’s amazing,” Silverman responded.
“I do have that,” Kimmel continued.
“And what’s going on is — as bad as you thought it was going to be — it’s so much worse.
“It’s just unbelievable.
“I feel like it’s even worse than he would like it to be.”

Kimmel campaigned for Democrats during the 2024 election and has repeatedly used his ABC show to attack Trump and Republicans.
He first revealed his Italian citizenship publicly in June.
Speaking at an event at the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles to celebrate the 79th Italian Republic Day, Kimmel told the crowd he had obtained citizenship “thanks to my beloved grandmother Edith, whose family came from Candida, in the province of Avellino.”
The late-night host’s comments come as other celebrity Democrats have also relocated outside the U.S. since Trump’s re-election.
Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres announced earlier this year that they had permanently moved abroad, citing the political climate.
Trump, never one to shy away from firing back at his critics, recently singled out Kimmel, warning that the comedian might be “next” to face cancellation after fellow anti-Trump host Stephen Colbert revealed his CBS show will end in May 2026.
Kimmel’s repeated political jabs have fueled criticism from viewers who argue that late-night TV has abandoned comedy in favor of partisan activism.
Critics say his latest comments about fleeing the country highlight a growing disconnect between Hollywood’s elite and the Americans they mock.
