Joy Reid: Trump & Elvis Presley Are ‘Mediocre White Men’ Who ‘Can’t Create’ Anything

Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid launched into a tirade Friday against President Donald Trump, Elvis Presley, and others, denouncing them as “mediocre white men.”

Reid claims that their achievements were either “stolen or counterfeit.”

She made the remarks during an interview with left-wing activist Wajahat Ali on his Substack program “The Left Hook.”

The episode was titled “How Mediocre White Men and Their Fragility Are Destroying America.”

The pair alleged that across U.S. institutions, “mediocre white men” lack a culture of their own and instead co-opt the achievements of black Americans to elevate themselves.

Ali opened the episode by accusing Trump of carrying out what he described as a “hostile takeover” of the Kennedy Center.

The Kennedy Center has been shifting away from drag queen showcases in favor of more conservative, pro-American content.

Trump announced this year’s Kennedy Center honorees last week and will also be hosting the ceremony.

“These people [white Americans] cannot create culture on their own,” Ali said during a racially charged rant.

“Without black people, brown people, the DEIs, there’s no culture in America.

“We make the food better.

“We make the economy better.

“We make the music better. Right?

“MAGA can’t create culture.

“They got Cracker Barrel and Kid Rock.”

Reid accused white conservatives of manufacturing their own form of outrage culture while lacking the “intellectual rigor” to engage in debate.

“They don’t have the intellectual rigor to actually argue or debate with us, right?” Reid said.

“And what they do is they tattle and tell.

“They run and tell teacher that ‘the black lady or the brown man was mean to me.’

“And that’s what they always do.”

Wearing first a 1619 Project hat and later a cap emblazoned with “FDT,” Reid turned her ire on Trump’s review of Smithsonian exhibits ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.

“They can’t fix the history they did,” she said about white people.

“Their ancestors made this country into a slave — a slave hell, but they can clean it up now because they got the Smithsonian.

“They can get rid of all the slavery stuff.

“They got PragerU that can lie about the history to the children.

“They can’t originally invent anything more than they ever were able to invent good music.

“We black folk gave y’all [white Americans] country music, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, rock and roll,” Reid continued.

“They couldn’t even invent that, but they have to call a white man ‘The King.’

“Because they couldn’t make rock and roll, so they have to stamp ‘The King’ on a man whose main song was stolen from an overweight black woman.”

Reid’s reference was to Elvis Presley’s recording of “Hound Dog,” which was first sung by Big Mama Thornton, a black blues singer, and written by Jewish-American songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.

Elvis’s version was faster, upbeat, and with altered lyrics.

The song propelled him to national stardom in 1956 following his earlier hit “Heartbreak Hotel.”

Presley would go on to pioneer the “rockabilly” sub-genre of rock and roll, openly citing black American music as one of his influences.

The White House fired back at Reid’s comments, blasting her as a bitter former host who failed even at MSNBC.

“Joyless Reid is an ungrateful hack who fails to acknowledge her privilege,” said White House spokesman Harrison Fields.

“Whatever remains of her success would only be possible in the United States of America, the same country she degrades for sport.

“She was too unhinged for MSNBC and was fired.

“Instead of changing her act, she’s doubled down on stupid.”
