A judge has issued a sweeping forfeiture order against the convicted ringleader of a major Minnesota Somali welfare fraud scheme, stripping her of luxury assets, including a luxury Porsche, diamond jewelry, electronics, and more than $3 million seized from multiple bank accounts.
The convicted organizer, Aimee Bock, 44, was described in a Daily Mail report as the “mastermind” behind the operation that stole millions in taxpayer money.
The report noted Bock’s “humiliating fall from grace” tied to the sprawling Feeding Our Future scandal.
Bock was convicted on multiple federal counts, including wire fraud, following a six-week federal trial, and is currently being held in jail while awaiting sentencing.
The scandal is part of what has now become a massive federal investigation into allegations that billions in U.S. welfare funds were looted through fraudulent schemes within Minnesota’s Somali community, including daycare and food-aid fronts billing taxpayers for services that were never provided.
The money, investigators say, was funneled into funding the fraudsters’ lavish lifestyles, blowing stolen tax dollars on luxury cars, jewelry, vacations, properties, and personal spending.
According to the preliminary forfeiture order reviewed by the Daily Mail, Bock has been ordered to surrender:
• $3,506,066 seized from a Feeding Our Future bank account
• $179,455 from a personal account
• her Porsche Panamera
• roughly 60 laptops, iPads, and iPhones seized from three locations
• a diamond necklace, bracelet, and earrings
• a Louis Vuitton purse and backpack
The report described the forfeiture as her “latest ignominy.”
The Feeding Our Future scandal has already reshaped Minnesota politics, costing disgraced Democrat Gov. Tim Walz his political future after he announced he would not seek re-election amid the fallout.
The fraud case exploded back into the national spotlight over Christmas, after independent journalist Nick Shirley published viral investigative footage visiting Minnesota daycare centers tied to Somali-run welfare operations.
As the Daily Mail reported:
“The case rocketed back into the national consciousness over Christmas when independent journalist Nick Shirley conducted a series of visits to Minnesota daycares that serve the Somali community, attempting to interview the operators, and published his findings on X.
“The Feeding Our Future scandal was the worst of several welfare frauds that have engulfed Minnesota in the last few years.”
Federal prosecutors say roughly $250 million intended to “buy meals for children from low-income families” was instead siphoned into shell companies and lavish personal spending, with law enforcement admitting that only about $75 million has been recovered so far.
Bock previously tried to paint herself as a victim, even accusing the state of discrimination because her organization worked within the Somali community.
But prosecutors told jurors that Bock was not a bystander.
She was the driving force.
“Aimee Bock sat at the top of the scheme,” they told the court.
“It was Aimee Bock who overnight transformed a sleepy nonprofit into an engine for the largest Covid fraud in this country.
“She was relentless.
“She didn’t just facilitate the fraud, she fought for it.
“And when MDE raised concerns about Feeding Our Future and the massive claims coming, Aimee Bock went to war.
“She attacked MDE in the public, in the media, in the courts.”
Bock now awaits sentencing.
The scandal continues to widen as federal investigators pursue additional suspects and unrecovered funds.
