Twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has declared that Americans “can’t trust” the Department of Justice (DOJ) under President Donald Trump.
Harris is accusing the administration of running a “vengeance campaign” against political opponents.
The former vice president made the remarks Sunday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend.”
Harris pointed to recent indictments of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James as supposed evidence that Trump is abusing federal power.
When asked directly by host Eugene Daniels whether Americans could trust the DOJ, Harris replied:
“I don’t know if we can trust what’s coming out of the Department of Justice right now.
“And that pains me to say that as someone who spent the majority of my career as a prosecutor, where the work of a prosecutor should be to do justice.”
She added that prosecutors should operate “without any fear and not in the interest of favor.”
However, Harris claimed that under Trump, “that is not what is ruling the day.”
Harris went further, alleging that the Trump administration is “manipulating the justice system” for political ends.
“This is not only about something that affects the individuals that they’re targeting,” she said.
“This affects all of us who believe … that a justice system is actually supposed to be blind in the way that it does its work, not targeting people because of who they are, or for that matter, what they look like.”

Harris Escalates Rhetoric
The MSNBC appearance is part of Harris’s media push around her newly released memoir, “107 Days.”
At a book-tour event in Los Angeles last week, Harris ramped up her rhetoric, using explicit language to describe Trump officials as “crazy.”
“There’s so much about this moment that is making people feel like they’ve lost their minds,” Harris said.
“When, in fact, these motherf—— are crazy.”
Political Context
Harris’s comments come as Democrats continue to criticize Trump’s renewed push to restore accountability inside the DOJ.
Conservatives argue that Trump’s actions are aimed at finally holding politically motivated figures like Comey and Letitia James responsible for years of weaponized investigations.
Meanwhile, Harris’s escalation in tone, particularly her use of vulgar language on stage, has sparked questions about her political strategy and whether Democrats plan to continue using Trump-focused attacks as a centerpiece of their messaging.
