Kamala Harris Throws Biden DOJ Under the Bus Over Failure to Release Epstein Files

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has defended the Biden administration’s refusal to release records related to child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein by throwing the Department of Justice (DOJ) under the bus.

Harris claims that it was the DOJ’s decision to keep the files hidden from the public and argues that the White House had to respect the Justice Department’s independence.

The failed Democrat presidential candidate made the claims as federal law now requires the documents to be made public by the end of the week.

Appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Harris claimed the Biden administration, including herself, had no role in whether the DOJ released the files.

“To give you an answer that will not satisfy your curiosity, I will tell you we, perhaps to our damage, but we strongly and rightly believed that there should be an absolute separation between what we wanted as an administration and what the Department of Justice did,” Harris said.

“We absolutely adhered to that, and it was right to do that.

“The Justice Department would make its decisions independent of any political or personal vendetta or concern that we may have, and that’s the way it worked.”

The comments come as the Justice Department faces a Friday deadline to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on November 19.

The act requires the release of all unclassified Epstein-related records.

A Controversial End to Biden-Era Investigation

The files drew widespread scrutiny in July, when the DOJ and FBI abruptly concluded that Epstein had no client list and that he died by suicide, ending the inquiry despite former Attorney General Pam Bondi saying she had the client list “on her desk” for review.

Trump initially dismissed demands to release the records as a “Democrat hoax,” but later said Republicans had nothing to hide.

Epstein’s convicted accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche that she never witnessed Trump engage in any inappropriate behavior.

Victims of Epstein’s trafficking network also told NBC News’ Hallie Jackson in September that they had never seen or heard of Trump committing any wrongdoing.

The DOJ has not said whether it will meet Friday’s statutory deadline, raising new questions about transparency, the scope of the Epstein investigation, and why the Biden administration resisted efforts to make the files public.
